but i still think even if murray is weak in the body lawton's best bet will be to keep moving and take chances of going to the body/throwing shots in general, when he can, rather than going looking for them. if he goes looking for the body he's playing into murray's hands by setting the distance of the fight at relatively short range.

my 10 quid stake on lawton to win on points at 12-1 is looking a bit better right now

Dorin moved up to light-welterweight but was never the same.
Take a tip, this is the stuff you should be writing - same division, same agonies, same prospective damage...

By the way are you bringing out an archive edition for your centenary? Rumour has it the front page will look worse than this mag.

I find Bennie's and Flexen's little spats quite entertaining, they are both man enough to fight their own corners!

there has been so much of this recently, that anyone could be forgiven for not remembering the dorin fight.

lightweight is jinxed - Fewkes v Gethin... Guzman v Campbell, Campbell v Funeka... Castillo v Corrales 2, Corrales v Casamayor 3...

so many different scenarios, i.e. weak at weight and gets stopped, power advantage gives the edge, heavy guy slow, fight called off- and the ironies as well, with the victim first time doing it himself the next time

I sort of agree, but I wish Bennie would talk boxing rather than attack Flexen or Boxing News.

I hope John can come back from this but will be gutted if the Thaxton fight doesn't come off.

maybe if Gallaher spent more time training John than moaning about him being overlooked he'd have come in on the weight. Apparently the carpet, traffic and inactivity were to blame.

Not great for someone who is constantly telling us how thorough he is that he couldn't get the traffic or the thickness of the carpet right!

Looks like Tony Jeffries made the right call. I haven't seen any improvement in John Murray in a long time and it's a shame coz he has talent but at the moment it's hard to see him going much further

I don't think Murray will be dead at the weight. Not like he was well over or couldn't shift it after trying for ages. It's a setback for him no doubt but I still fancy him to pagger Lawton tomorrow.
