My guess is if the BBBofC were to be really harsh then they could suspend Murray's licence for possibly 3 months or so - but whilst a clear mistake has happened and yep it was unprofessional it would be harsh on Murray if that were to happen - boxers have failed to make the weight in the past and this fuss has not happened before - the most recent one I can think of was Kiko Martinez over in Ireland when he was going to fight Wayne McCullough - at least I think it was that fight - there have been others too.
Whilst it was a mistake and unprofessional - even the BBBofC official at the weigh in was at pains to say he was 0.08 out and he seemed embarassed to say that too.
Whilst there should be some form of sanction on Murray - I do not think the BBBofC should hamper his progression with regards future fights again Thaxton etc etc - in addition it will tell me everything I need to know about the BBBofC if they are harsh on Murray when in my opinion if Murray was signed to a certain other promoter there probably wouldn't even be a hearing as phone calls would be made.
he only fights every 6 months anyway
but yeah that could fvck up a thaxton fight. is hennessy planning to make the fight in te next few months?
unlike fewkes (v gethin), i would say murray looked like he was still a lightweight, lokked strong, and fought very well
the thing is, won't hayemaker be trying to find a way in for john watson, might maloney try and sneak castle in??

Autobarn - with regards to other promoters wanting their fighters in - you are correct thats where the problem is - I do not know where the BBBofC will rank John Murray after being stripped of the title - thats where they could be really sneaky - what I mean by that is that - John Murray could go to his hearing and get off the hook with regards to a fine or a suspended "banning" sentence - but - the key issue is that the board may not rank Murray and ask the next 2 contenders one of them being Thaxton to fight for the vacant title.
To be honest I am not so caught up with Murray v Thaxton - with all due respect to Jon I just think Murray will walk right through him - and thus not being able to fight Thaxton is not a problem in my view for Murray - although it would be Hennessy getting punished then for Murray's mistake as he promotes both fighters and thus Thaxton v a n other would have to go out to purse bids and the likes of Maloney and Hayemaker would be keen to win those bids - should I say Maloney will as we still do not know the position of Hayemaker and Setanta.

Murray without a title would be a real setback. would mick h promote him in main events without a british title? perhaps bring in a useful foreign opponent and market it as "an international attraction"?
limond for the WBU?
fingers crossed Murray has status from winning 2 British title fights by stoppage, and for doing same to Lawton, a British title challenger last night.
can't think or 2 worthier contestents for the British lightweight title as Thaxton and Murray.

twice a year isn't very good really. 3-4 times a year is good.
It seems that I must be because for some mad reason I thought Murray won the title against Meager last July, defended against McAllister in January and fought Lawton last night. You're obviously better at maths than I am but I mistakenly thought that meant he had fought 3 times in under a year.

you say it like it's a bad thing, or somehow that we should be worried that it might happen (the murray - thaxton fight being, umm, interfered with for want of better way of putting it)
if you were hayemaker or Maloney, wouldn't you be trying to sneak Castle / watson or whoever into the mix? don't they have a right to do that with the title being vacant?
haven't they got a right to, now that Murray has shot himself in the foot? what are they supposed to do, sit on their hands or twiddle their thumbs till Murray gets back on track?????
wouldn't it in some way be just desserts and a hard lesson learned for Murray is other fighters did jump the queue? in fact i don't think they'd be jumping anything.

yes i am a bit thick at maths & still will not tell ppl what grade i got at GCSE. But this year and last year he only had 2 bouts a year. hopefulyl there is no suspension or no wait because this year would end up only 2 bouts
my opinion is that murray should be smashing guys up up to 4x per year

He'd have fought 3 times last year if he hadn't pulled out of the first McAllister date injured and he's already fought twice this year and we're in June.
