Murray's stopped him on his feet in 6. Dominant performance, but I didn't like Murray being so open to right hands in round two, where Lawton landed some good rights. Because Murray does bruise up. Murray ground him down and looked good, if perhaps overanxious early. He probably did it because he could, i.e. Lawton has little power.

Given that Lawton beat Gethin beat Fewkes, this is a decent win. Hopefully Thaxton next.

I sort of wish these fights - v lanky, light hitter - took place in bigger rings. They would last longer. Also they would be less predictable, more variety, imagination: i.e. Murray on atack, Lawton covering up/countering on the ropes. Part of pressure is cutting the ring down, the process of steadily wearing a foe down. In other words, the chase and the attack. You don't really get the chase, in what looked like a little ring.

Hoping that Murray gets the Thaxton fight.

Khan would piss all over Murray.

Murray is very good though but Khan has the style to beat him every day of the week

not as simple as that. khan is fast, but at lightweight for example weakens in middle rounds, perfect time for murray to land body shots & weaken khan.

khan certainly has the style to make murray look slow, but the fast guy doesn't always necessarily win these kind of fights - i.e. colin jones v kirkland laing fights.

A Freddie Roach trained Khan will never lose to Murray

Have to say Jon Thaxton is one of the most articulate (and likeable) pundits around.

For me Murray is the best lightweight in the UK, he has that look about him, he'd stop both Thaxton and Khan.

Great show, just a shame they didn't have time to show the last fight, the one going on in the ring while they were talking through the "wrap up" section. I think it was Wollas, who appeared to be knocked down in the third- but hard to tell when you can just see legs in the background!

Good card Glover was good and heading to a victory anyway imo the other boy looked as if he was fighting within himself he looked as if he could of outboxed Glover but chose otherwise
Really shame in the next fight was looking forward to seeing Koomar but that was a nasty cut they really should change that rule how does Wilson win without really throwing a punch
Murray was relentless I thought he may of put to much in that 1st round but he was relentless throughout good stoppage at the end

I think that if Murray makes it through the first four rounds against Khan, he'll start landing, break him down, and stop him. Khan is fast, but he is also very frail.

It's a moot point, there's no way allegedly would put Khan in with murray, he's never been keen on matching world title fodder with domestic level dangermen. It's just not a good risk reward strategy.

I hope Romanov wins that vacant IBF title.

If Murray can get, and get by, Thaxton, I reckon he'd beat Romanov by having him on the back foot. Romanov's power would be a big threat, but it can be minimised if he's forced back and made to work.

murray-romanov would be a war.

when does romanov fight for the ibf belt?

i thought murray was solid last night.

he's a poor man's ricky hatton.

but no disgrace in that. :TU:

I think he should fight Maazache that is a winnable fight for him I do think Romanov would be a great fight but there are lots of good fights out there for him Diaz, Malignaggi, Romonov, Maazache, Thaxton, Khan(doubt it will happen) and many more I really like John Murray and hope his career goes far i believe he has the ability but does look like he could be outboxed at the highest level like someone said like Hatton

Murray is easy to hit & Romanov is a puncher. Romanov would whack .urray.

6 yrs pro & STILL p.ssing about on domestic level? Puh-leaze!!

So he is still on the domestic level sure i was hoping he would be at least at European level but at least he went to British level he fought tough British fighters unlike a certain Amir Khan sure he got on to the world scene sooner but Murray is still only 24 i think so still has loads of time to go on to world level

does that = Romanov KOs Murray?

I reckon Murray would have a tighter defence vs Romanov. Romanov can be backed up, and despite some devastating wins, he has had terrible problems with Steffano Zoff, Juan Carlos Diaz Melero & Graham Earl.

Yes,,a brutal accurate puncher. But I think Romanov lacks stamina, is short for the weight and will struggle mightily when pushed back. Murray is vastly superior to Earl. I know Earl got an out of shape Yuri, but I reckon Murray could grind out a tough win over the former EBU champ.

One of the many things wrong with british boxing IMO :witzend:
