I don't reckon Cotto is a healthy welterweight, or even a natural welterweight. This is something I probably didn't specify. .
Cotto was a bit of a fat kid and he still seems to be a bit of a fleshy fighter. Cotto should be at 147 but he should be in better shape at 147. He's a fair bit off having the physical conditioning and low body fat Pacquaio/Mayweather have.

cotto-pac is at catchweight 144?

mannyweight (aka moneyweight)

cotto will be a skeleton & his reflexes will be fvcked.

another moneyweight massacre
Cotto-Pac isnt agreed mate but Roach has said if Mosley/Cotto fights happen they need to come down to 142-144 but the end result will be 144. Mosley said he cant go below 147 and Cotto has too but may change his mind with the size of the cheque

Pacquaio has said he only wants Mayweather, Roach has alluded to the same. Now Mayweather-Marquez has been put back (FMJ injured) it makes it all the more complicated

Pacquaio will wreck Cotto at 144, he'd probably wreck him at 147 too. Cotto couldnt take Clottey's shots (or Judahs/Margaritos/Mosleys), Pacquaio hits at least as hard as Clottey and will throw much more leather. He'll do what Judah was doing early for the duration of the fight, Cotto's there to be taken out again.
Christ you talk some shite.

Cotto didn't wobble once under fire against Clottey. He may have looked in distress, but he didn't wobble, didn't go down and wasn't stunned at any point.

How do you figure Pacquaio hits harder than Clottey? Clottey has 20 knockouts in the Welterweight division, against good operators.

Manny has stopped one man at 147, and that was a horrifically weight drained and ageing DLH.

Ridiculous comments.

Cotto however, really shouldn't be fighting below 145.
I only saw the fight once but from rounds 7-8 Cotto looked like he was getting ko'd again, call it what you want, he was hurt. If Clottey had fought at the same pace for rounds 9 onwards Cotto wouldnt have lasted, if Margarito was the 1 there in the last 4 rounds he certainly will have ko'd Cotto.

I'm guessing Pac hits as hard as Clottey, Clottey is a fair bit bigger but isn't as dynamic power puncher as Pac.

Cotto is getting knocked out when he faces Pacquaio/Mayweather/Margarito/Williams/Mosley. Anyway Cotto will be well drained at 144 and has a defense every bit as bad as Hatton. Pacquaio will land most of what he throws, which only means 1 thing Cotto getting knocked out, and if he avoids it late he'll tire down the stretch
Yes, but who says Cotto will agree to the weight, nothing is agreed as of yet. No way should Cotto's team allow the fight to happen on those terms.

Cotto was looking distressed, but guess what, he had a huge gash over his left eye. Hardly surprising is it now? He had to stay out of range, and probably the effort moving around tired him out, plus the mental aspect of being cautious can make a fighter very tired.

I wouldn't say Cotto has great stamina late in fights, but I think his lack of stamina is overplayed.

you shouldn't be distressed when you get a nice bit of gash

The thing is he wasn't just distressed he looked shakey and ready to go. If it was just 1 fight it could be put down solely on the cut. But he's looked hurt and ready to go against Mosley, Tores, Judah and it finally happened against Margarito. He seemed to be doing the same thing in the late rounds he was doing against Marg and if Marg/Pacquaio was there he wouldn't see out the fight. But who knows maybe he'll raise his game, maybe he can be slicker than Pacquaio

Manny is just a beast for 1 thing though, that amazing speed, P4P power (which imo will be enough to KO Cotto), stamina another thing is he adds weight very well, he probably weighed 147-48 against Hatton and he'll probably be bigger/stronger next time, maybe a solid 150. Plus now Manny isn't draining as much he's looking much fresher at the weight.

And they will make Cotto come down because Pacquaio is the draw and Roach says they arent fighting above 143 (so 144 will probably be a compromise)

Cotto is an 8 round fighter then he backpeddles to the finish.

If Manny is still standing after 8 he wins late KO.

The thing I don't like about Pacman is this catchweight BULLSHIT.

You want to fight 147 pounders, fight them. Otherwise stay at 140.

Yes Cotto has often looked in trouble (no way was he "ready to go" at the weekend though) but he has always found a way to comeback and win outside of the Margarito fight.

I'm not sure how people can be negative about Cotto's performance, he scored an early knockdown, came through a tough middle period with a nasty cut that was impairing his vision and changed his tactics at the end of the fight to confirm the win. Yes Clottey should have thrown more at the end but he was still wary of Cotto's power and didn't want to be made to miss and get countered. He couldn't adjust at the end where as Cotto could and had to resort to trying to get a point taken off Cotto at the end

At 147 I think Cotto wins this, but at a catchweight, he's going to be completely dead.

The weight won't make much difference either way. Pacman is too good for him in almost every department.

At some point, no matter how good you are - you're going to be in against a guy who is took big, at 147 I think a healthy Cotto is too big.

I think Pacman would have had nightmares with Clottey, the guy is a beast.

Agree at WW Cotto wins but at a catchweight Pac wins would like to see Cotto-Clottey 2 or Cotto-Mosely 2 and Pac-JMM 3 or Pac-Mayweather before this fight but it would be a good fight :TU:
