Think a few people on here are talking with emotion when they say Davis will stop Napa. I would be very suprised if this happened, it seems to be forgotten that Napa is alot more experianced and at championship level, Napa has boxed tough competion up to Euro level againts good boxers and fighters who have had decent punch on them. Napa never cuts corners in training, is a true pro and has learn't his trade sparring anyone and everyone at any level and weight and always holds his own. Napa is old school and it will be no shame on Davis when Napa schools him. Davis may be good but he is not at Napa's level at mo I dont believe, Napa's level comes with the experiance he has had in the gym and in the ring, and having seen both sides of the coin. This fight will be good experiance for Davis which may put him at that high level in time, but not at this time because I still believe it's Napa's time. This will be a good learning fight Davis, he will learn alot from this defeat which will bring him on better for the future.

I think this is a good fight for Gary Davis - clearly an easy fight to make with Maloney managing/promoting Napa and the Wood/Maloney partnership with Davis.

Since Davis has dropped his weight he seems to be one hell of a lot stronger - Napa cannot punch - or should I say he doesn't punch hard enough to keep a come forward fighter like Davis off for long enough and thus I see Davis quite simply walking right through anything Napa has to offer.

The only chance I give Napa in this one is if Davis comes in complacent - if Davis wins which I think he does with a later stoppage or a wide points victory then a possible surprising European title shot could be just around the corner.

I agree Napa is a brave and strong fighter with regards to that he never gives up - but you need to have a dig to keep control of someone like Davis and thats what Napa simply does not have.

For what it's worth, I think it's a close fight and whoever finishes strongest wins it. I'd put Davies as the favourite because of his punch. He's the British Darchinyan, don't forget.

Close decision for either boxer or late KO for Davies.

I'm looking forward to this fight. It could be really good. :TU:

Who do most of the topics about Gary turn into a bit of a bad atmosphere.

I really think this is a good 50/50 fight.

I don't see one person completely dominating the other. I think Napa's 'slickness' will be able to combat Gary's shots, avoiding the big ones and landing plenty of eye catching shots (not powerful, as we know Napa cant hit that hard) to win over the judges.

I think that Gary has to knock him out if he is to win. I think the later the fight goes the less of a chance he has. Gary has never been past 7 rounds, and to do it with Napa, who has been there again and again is a tough ask.

I must say that from what I have been told Gary is a really nice guy. He was really respectful to Edmonds after their fight and thanked him for a good fight.

Neil and Lee. I'm not having a dig, but unfortunately your comments always seem to be extremely biased (which I can understand) but you don't seem to appreciate anyone else's comments. If someone posts something that is contracdictory to what you believe you seem to try and shoot them down as if they have no logic at all. (sorry to rant but its the way I see it)

Anyway....back to the topic.

I think Napa wins on points.....unless he is on the decline....which is always possible.

The fight I would like to see is Davies v Booth. I think Booth has really improved over the past two years or so and this would be a cracker.

i dont come out with biased comments imo i openly agree that thee is a chance that np cud run from gary for 12 rounds and win by ud but imo an this goes for any boxer that if you int hitting someone with something thats not meaningful there going to jump all over you and thats what i think will happen in this fight if we were talking about anyone else my argument would be the same, i always fancy the power over the precision in the lower weights. and if you look im not here to argue with people im a boxing fan and just want to have discussions about boxing and not daft things which people come out with.

Difficult fight to call. Davies will have to do better than he has done before to win, but he's an improving fighter so he might well have a lot more to show.

well more power to him
good fight and a brave brave decision
come on gary

and i still think gary will do it
late stoppage rd 8
he punches so hard
It's all good to support Davis, and his time will come because he is good enough but it is still Napa's time so you all should just be humble about that and accept that although Napa will beat Davies at least Davis will get good experiance for the future as I'm sure he is good enough to make it...after Napa has gone. Also I'm sure Davis dosn't punch any more harder than some of those who Napa has boxed or sparred with (many alot heavier) and held his own in his career. We'll all see on fight night, but dont forget, Davis can and I believe will come again after this good learning defeat for him.

fair point mate and if gary did lose then he would learn alot, on the subject of power i was speaking to someone whos sparred both gary and napa recently and they said gar is way stronger thn napa and punches a lot harder so thats were my point comes from, ging to be a good figt regardless and if gary did win id hope he gets the respect he deserves because he trains as hard as anyone i know and has done more than he could of hoped for by winning the british title.

Yeh It should be a cracker...and I agree that Booth/Davies wont happen soon if at all which is a shame.

I think I agree with most that it may not be Gary's time to shine at the moment as Napa gave up his belt, then a few weeks later lost an unexpected decision which left him beltless. I do think though, that Gary will come again because he is improving all the time....possibly at Super Bantam next year if he struggles with the weight at all (cos he is huge).

Lee/Neil - Does he struggle with the weight at all? What would happen if he had to take a fight at short notice? Could he make weight?

to be honest he made the weight for the edmonds fight quite easy i spent a lot of time with him in the build up and he was ok with the weight and never killed himself 2 be honest, went to see kerry kays who gave him a few pointers, he couldnt make the weight at short notice as he likes his food lol
