I don't currently consider Afolabi to be British.

Olusegun holds the British title and has fought almost all of his fights in Britain. I think it could be said that Olusegun is more British than Afolabi, as far as boxing is concerned anyway.

How, Ola gets penalised for being ambitious and getting top training? What about Craig McEwan... will he be "british" cause he has a British sounding name?

Ola could fight for the British title now. But choses to get better by training in the states.

Duddy isn't eligible for a British title and has had a stateside career but he still makes the list

Duddy is only three places above McCloskey.

I wouldn't say that McCloskey has clearly done more than Duddy in his career, so I don't really think it is unbelievable that Duddy is slightly ahead of McCloskey at the moment.

Afolabi will be reconsidered for entry after his next fight.

McEwan was born in Edinburgh, so it's not just British-sounding....

But then the British No.1 will be a fighter coming off a humiliating knockout loss.

If I took out fighters as soon as they announced their retirements then the standard of the boxers in the list would drop, which is a bad thing.
Hatton being KO'ed by Pacquiao doesn't justify Calzaghe still being at number one. And Calzaghe has been retired since the New Year, which is well past six months. You can't still think Calzaghe will have another fight, surely?

So the 'look' goes over the accuracy now does it? This is Wayne McCullough all over again.

Hatton and Haye have both held the Ring titles, plus have won all the titles in their respective divisions (except for WBC on Ricky's and IBF on Haye's).

Hatton has won a second title at another weight and Haye is set to try to do the same. Hence their pecking order.

Froch has that unbeaten record, cleaned out all domestic super middleweight rivals and has added a former unified / Ring champion to his record. Plus the WBC strap. And i suppose a win over the new WBC light-heavy champion in Pascal.
Hatton never won the WBO title, which is considered a major title by most.

Just because you say McCloskey would humiliate Rees, it doesn't mean that he actually could.

Rees is still on the list because just over 15 months ago he was the WBA champion, which meant he had a high ranking on the list, so it has taken him a while to fall towards the bottom of the rankings.

McEwan represented Scotland as an amateur. Is he an U.S. citizen?

Did Afolabi represent England as an amateur? It would give him more of a British boxing identity if he did.

Are you sure he would be eligible to fight for the British title?

Is Afolabi just training over there in the United States? Or is he planning on spending the rest of his life over there as an U.S. citizen?

Ola boxed Amateur in the UK untill he was 20. He was born in England.

Whether he was good enough to represent England, I don't know - but he was eligable.

YES... for the millionth time, HE CAN FIGHT FOR THE BRITISH TITLE!!! He holds a British passport, which is more than Olusegan.

I haven't asked him if he plans on living in the US after he retires, I don't know him! but he classes Britain as "home" and he moved to the states to further his boxing career.

Matthew - my post about McEwan was supposed to be sarcastic... of course McEwan is British - born and raised in Scotland... as is Ola!

My opinion is all those eligable to fight for the British title should be included... so that means McEwan, Olusegun and Ola.

Duddy has been on three domestic shows as the home fighter and he is on the list as an Irish fighter, not as a British fighter.

There is a fair chance that he will never fight in this country again, with none of his future fights being shown on British television. He might be back for a Maccarinelli rematch, but as far as British boxing goes he seems like a foreigner to me.

I will reconsider whether he should be on the list after his next fight, but I am still not sure that I like the idea of a fighter like Afolabi being on the list.

It doesn't matter where you live or fight out of, if you are born on the British Isles or Northern Ireland then you are entitled to British citizenship and hence can call yourself British. You can be born in London but spend the next 40 years in Bangkok but you are still legally British.

Bernard Dunne is on that list but he has never fought inside the UK or Northern Ireland.

If there is a big money fight out there for him, that he thinks he can win, then I think he very well might come back.

If Froch beat Hopkins or Kessler then there might be enough hype to lure Calzaghe back.

I just decided to add something different for my reply, instead of repeating the same old stuff in response to that question.

I don't think that being concerned about the look of the list overly compromises accuracy, it might even help it.

Doesn't he have to have a British licence to fight for the British title?
