there isn't really a domestic opponent of calibre. dodson - already KO'd, magee - already KO'd. moore, macklin, barker - all too small, all former or current light middles. (quigley? - his fight got called off and he'll have been in training recently)

it might be useful putting the boot on the other foot. allan green - what else has he got after turning down that Bute fight? he needs to get up off his arse and do the thing he has probably always dreaded - go and challenge an away fighter. judging by his comments he realises he needs to go and gamble - in order to raise his career & get the paydays he wants. i doubt he would be expensive, and it would surely make showtime's proper championship boxing series (or if they're being tight, shobox - given that green is a yank prospect/contender) for a bit of extra money.

i just hope to see a credible title fight as the last 2 were. too much in world level boxing lacks creibility. i don't know where this would fit in terms of british TV money though

the whole point is,what IS next for froch?unfortunately for him,nobody wanted the taylor fight when there were two more broadcasters into boxing so whos going to want a lesser opponent?i respect carl as a fighter,but hes not as big a name outside nottingham as some people think.he would be best advised to get on the road and make better money,after all he is ambitious,isnt he?

Pavlik or Green for me. Bute, BHOP and Kessler I think he gets beat by, although he could take Bute out.

Oh yeah I forgot, he actually needs to get himself a decent PR crew as well, the fact that they couldn't manage to sell a fight between a top British fighter with an exciting style as well as a world title and a former undisputed middleweight champion of the world to the British TV execs is nothing short of shambolic. All the blame has to be put on his promoters, you can't expect a TV station to dish out a fortune to show somebody who the majority of Britain has never heard of can you? It's up to his crew to ram the name "Carl Froch" into the publics faces just like they've had Hatton, Khan, Calzaghe etc. thrown at them then they'll be interested, they'll want to see who this "Carl Froch" is and if he's the real deal.

You'd think with ITV having his fights they'd be showing little segments on the enws in the build up etc.. to boost viewing figures on the fight. Or is that me being far to sensible?

I think maybe Green though it wouldnt make big money and it would be a risky fight but he is quite high up on the rankings and would be regarded as a good win if he did win it

A certain northern Light Heavy fits the bill... as a decent UK opponent.

I thought Magee because he looked good on a prime time ITV Audience in winning the British title, that will be the first many would have seen of him.

I just feel Froch needs one "last" prime time ITV slot before they move... something that will get the juices flowing a bit with the man on the street - maybe if Taylor wants to come here, even someone like Sergio Mora who many would have heard of.

Just not a US Fight... not this time.

Wales - The Froch vs Porras fight was shown on delay on Eurosport, thats all I am afraid in the UK.

Seems to be talk of Showtime putting on a Super Middleweight Round Robin style Tournament. Froch will meet Andre Dirrell in October according to the schedule. Andre Ward will fight Kessler.

I should add Kessler to the list that would beat Froch, IMO.

Froch thought he had landed in the big time winning the WBC title and that the offers would come flooding in. Sadly he is still struggling even after his win against Taylor which should have opened doors for him. I hope he gets a decent fight soon but Nard would be a bad move. Hopefully Kessler next year but I dont fancy his chances. He needs another fight Sept/Oct Green maybe who he can beat and a decent name as well.

dirrell is pure class in my opinion.

Dirrell can look fantastic one minute and then unstable the next. Often pretty exciting. When he's on form he's definitely one of the best, but I think his mentally fragility will have him come unstuck shortly after stepping up (if not when he steps up).

Wasn't impressed with Dirrell against Oganov and Hanshaw. He has good hand speed but he's not a big hitter, gets backed up too easily, not a great chin and his footwork is mediocre. An accident waiting to happen against Froch/Bute/Kessler.

Bute's manager wanted a unification bout against Froch in Montreal, but Bute wanted a rematch with Andrade first. Can't blame him for that. He should win the rematch, and Froch should win his next fight so the Bute-Froch fight could happen early 2010 if they can agree on purse/location. Don't think Froch will have a problem fighting in Montreal as the live gate there will be bigger than anywhere else.

I think 2 top fights for Froch are Bika (well known in the US through Contender) & UK fans for fighting Calzaghe

My second would be Clinton Woods!! Only if he wins a world title though!! That could be massive with the right build up!! Put it in the Hall FM arena and it'd be filled with both sets of fans!!

If I was Froch I wouldn't go anywhere near Ward or Kessler.. I think the 2 of them will beat him and beat him well to be honest!!

I just can't understand why Froch isn't mega popular? He's a genuine bloke, his style always gives him that "underdog" quality (and we Brits love that don't we?), his fights are never dull, he's a world champion and earned it with blood, sweat and tears, and has ambition to be the best and take on the top guys to prove it!

If he was around ten years ago do you think he'd have caught the publics eye? Is Frochs lack of mega support more down to boxing becoming less popular in the mainstream?
