The Sandinistas sponsored him as mayor of Managua but in the last few weeks the Nicaraguan press had been accusing Arguello of being a stooge of Daniel Ortega, of granting construction contracts only to Sandinistas, of not turning in $180.000 in receipts for expenses paid, in the possible kickback of purchasing buses and using government money for private trips.

The speculation right now is that Arguello who had become part of the corrupt Sandinista structure, was going to be used as an "escape goat" so Daniel Ortega and cohorts could save their own image. This was probably the key factor in the suicide -or murder- of Alexis Arguello.

A letter has surfaced in the Nicaraguan press where Alexis admits to suicide and accusess the Sandinistas of using him and betraying him. Whether true or not -the Sandinistas are deniying its validity- it creates more speculation and questions about his death.

The letter -for those who read Spanish- can be read here:

It's right

Argüello was a greatest fighter, and another of the thousand of victims of the Ortega brothers and his "Sandinism" (Sandino never was communist as the dictator Ortega); Daniel Ortega and his clan are despicable like the Somoza clan: all against the democracy and liberty
The story put out stinks.

I wouldn't believe it for a second.

He didn't kill himself.

He was foolish enough to get mixed up with scum and put himself too close to them.

The story put out for public consumption stinks,

just like the story put out when Tyrone Everett was killed in Philly.
I'm on board on this one.

I remember when the "sandinists" commited the genocide of the 8.000 Miskito Indians, or burned an Octavio Paz' puppet because Paz (Nobel Prize of Literature) criticized in his magazine Vuelta, of Mexico, the absence of liberty in their country; if a man out of Nicaragua is humbled like him, how can do a man under the "sandinist" government? The communist are the same thing as the nazis...

Yes, once again Pady makes a convincing case.

If only he would post that picture of Kid Azteca one more time I'm sure that would sway any waverers.

Everyone here remembers when homosexually fixated sicko collins ran to the moderators to complain when I posted a comic book cover that featured the faces of four greats of Mexican boxing--Kid Azteca, Juan Zurita, Joe Conde, and Baby Casanova.

Image

collins wanted the posted deleted because he thought it had nothing to do with boxing.

WHY?

Because collins never heard of Kid Azteca, Juan Zurita, Joe Conde, and Baby Casanova.

collins didn't know who they were..

And his buddy 'moderators' actually deleted the post at his direction, because they didn't know who Kid Azteca, Juan Zurita, Joe Conde, and Baby Casanova were either.

LOL

Any chance you could share with us your views on Barack Hussein Obama?

Hey gran, how odd, what you just said in the immediate above statement is not accurate...or relevant to the topic for that matter. Not the least bit.

Are you following me around boxrec, buz?

The pattern of your posts show exactly that.

Remember buz,

"If Thomas Hauser didn't say it, it isn't true."

It just entertains me to be on truth patrol when you get all excited and start mixing fiction with facts.

I don't believe he killed himself for a second. Odd that so few people cried BS over the news. There is just a slight bit of unrest and corruption in the Nicaraguan government.

I also don't buy that Gatti got so drunk he could barely walk, stabbed himself in the back of the head, made a noose from a purse strap and hung himself only to fall ever so quietly on the couch.

I don't think you can rely on google for details on the Gatti case.
