The over-riding point you make, that I simply insult you and look for ways to do it, is just stupid. I made an attempt at humerous post to summarise the difference between boxing, unlicensed and white-collar with no reference to you, your post or any point you'd made and you took that to be a personal dig at your commentary on the issues in boxing.
It is you who coupled up my post with your neurosis. Not me.
I then insulted you in return byimplication that such is your neurosis that one can only assume you have no life and no sense of humour. It wasn't a hard leap to make at that point.
To return to boxing as you so lovingly claim to want to, my opinion expressed in point 4 is arguably complacent but in the face of hords of doom-mongerers it is important to remember, and we all know you love to reminisce about boxing - even though you only really got in to the sport on Julius Francis' big night, that boxing has been terminally ill since the turn of the century.
You then grow perplexed by my supposed air of resignation in point 5, despite the fact the point I make may fall into the "boxing overhall" you clamour for.
I'm sure you've packed tonnes in to your life Spud, and its important as always not presume anything about me either, now if you don't mind I have a Guardian crossword to wrestle with. So fkk off.
Your response is one that I expected.

It certainly did not Payne and there you go again - I had a full response written out which basically in my view proves everything I have ever thought about you but I was told not to bother.
I love the bit where you belittle my status as a boxing fan

Spud just can't seem to get on with members can he?
David is a respected member of the board for years and doesn't deserve to have to respond to Spuds lunacy.
This can't keep happening over and over again. It's demeaning the board.

Unless Michael Gomez has been hired by Alan Sugar and is now somesort of ad campagin manager for Amstrad, he's not a white collar boxer.
unfortunately its a common misconception .
white colar / semi pro / unlicensed are all the same thing . i promote what i call semi pro shows , i know that depending on what organisation you register with gives it a different name , eg theres 2 ebf's one in south which is english boxing federation and calls itself semi pro and then theres the european boxing federation in midlands and above that call it white collar but theres completely no difference , its all paid boxing where people from boxing backgrounds as ex pre or amateur or people who have never boxed before at all try to work there way to the top with out the hassles of the pro game , some maybe cant get a pro license , some just arent good enough for pro some are now too old for amateur , some just want to box but want to get paid unlike amateur shows , this scene is getting more popular now due to the fact that aba boxing seems almost a totally different sport to the pro boxing , i think the original white collar shows maybe where doctors and office workers etc and still possibly some are but those original white collar shows in america are where the name is likely to have come from , the confusion can also be to do with the rules a promotor or organisation use , i know for example billy bessey lets his lads use headgear if they want to but my lads cant .
Simply not true.
White collar boxing is certainly unlicensed boxing, that is accepted – but its key and defining feature is that its participants are white collar industry workers. Ex-professional fighters or indeed semi-pro fighters operating in unlicensed boxing is simply not ‘white collar boxing’ - regardless of what anyone sells it as. There is a clear distinction between the different types of unlicensed fighting.
The term ‘White Collar Boxing’ appears to have been hijacked by various individuals and organisations on the basis that it has a better and more acceptable image than other forms of unlicensed boxing. It is clearly more acceptable from a media and public perspective to sell (as a spectacle) a fight between a doctor (with little or no fight experience) and an accountant (with a similar fighting background) than it is to sell a fight between two hardened ex pros (whose licenses have been revoked for medical or disciplinary reasons).

Also, isn't "White Collar Boxing" UNPAID?
I might simply be wrong here, but I sort of assumed that it was two amateurs (hence "white collar") training up and then having a boxing match as a "one off."
The type of unlicenced boxing on shows like this one Gomez is on I'm fairly sure that the fighters DO get paid.

I suppose there isn't much they can do about it, with it being unlicenced.

Whats the format at these shows? Are they 3 minute rds? And how long the fights scheduled for?
Also are there any medical checks on the fighters and what about medical cover at the shows ??
There's similar shows around here now and again, Ive been to one but can't remember much about it to be honest, had a few too many before it started if you get my drift
