is there enough room for two good middleweights on the british scene?
Purse bids go in for Macklin-Barker this Weds, wonder who will bid for that one? That fight will knock one top British middle down a few pegs.

I think they will bid big dough for this fight

Looks to have been very recently - read Terry's article - it gives some comments from Steve Wood who comes across well in this whole episode.

No way you would ever catch most promoter's speaking well of departing boxers..

Rumoured for a while, confirmed last night, along with Murray, Steve is willing to give both men their contracts back, rather than show disloyalty to Maloney.
In the Box scene piece it says there is still a thompson contract issue

As Mickey Duff or Jarvis Astaire (I think) said: "If you want loyalty get an animal."

I think Maklin has made a mistake leaving FW!! No chance he'll fight for a world title in the next 12 months!! He would have had a chance with FW though as just look at the chances Jennings and Lockett got!! :-?

I fully understand why Macklin has gone - he is great pals with Ricky and Matt and so its understandable.

I simply cannot understand Martin Murray and Mark Thompson leaving - Steve Wood and Frank Maloney have done a bloody good job with both of them!! - perhaps Hatton offered more money - thats the only reason I can think of!!

Despite Matt's friendship with Ricky I too am surprised he left Frank for a second time - with Gavin and Broadhurst also under the FW banner I had anticipated some cracking nights in Brum.. :(

I would have thought Warren is well placed to help Macklin gain a ranking with the Governing bodies (at least the ones he has healthy relationships with) All I can think is that he wasn't giving Matt the type of assurances that he wanted to hear.

The fledgling Hatton promotions company are expanding quickly - are they taking too much on, too soon??
