Unofficially there has always been a "close season" other than for major fights.

I am asking a genuine question, i have been overseas for the best part of 3 years and cant remember there being a boxing season being around a few years ago

they usually have august and christmas off

i thought it was common knowledge,for years,that the summer months were "off season".the amateur gyms often shut down

Yeah, there's often a spate of shows in mid-July (as this year) and late November/early December as lads want a few quid for hols and prezzies...and also the chance for a few ales, etc.

I like the tale of RJJ training as the clock strikes 12 on New Year's Eve, just to show his commitment above others.
