zzutak wrote:No malice intended Dave, you seem a nice lad, and have all the attributes to be a decent heavy, but in my opinion something is amiss with your training methods. Your physique has that 'bulked up' look as if you hit the weights a lot, and your stamina deserts you alarmingly after a couple of rounds. Do you need to perhaps alter the emphasis of your training, more fitness work, less strength work?
am gonna look into it bro,

If it's of any interest Dave I've got some of the lads at the gym I use doing Kettlebell workouts. Builds strength without adding bulk or loss of flexibility and AMAZING cardio benefits. Recorded some impressive fitness gains on these programs
Put a search on YouTube for Kettlebells and have a look at some sample routines, one arm swings and clean & press are excellent for combat sports
I would suggest a 20kg as a starting weight for a lad your size
Just an idea

i thought ferguson he got rounds 1,2,3 and 6, peret no mug, a seen him dish out a right beating to maloneys prospect on the williams/ mcdermott undercard. Larry obliongo (dont think a spelled it right) and he had won his first4 by KO.

We didn't see the whole fight on telly, but going by the commentary and what we saw it was either a draw or 4-2.
Now, who pissed Dave off so much, that he's buggered off ?!
I really wanted to ask him, just how gross Peret's atavistic body hair was in the fight ? It looked soooo sweaty and disgusting I was thinking I'd rather take a punch than end up in a clinch with that wild beast.
Did that affect your strategy ?

Larry Olubamiwo mate
He started this thread
Peret's a tough fight for most and considering Ferguson hadn't fought in a while you have to give him credit for that.

Peret is disgusting to look at, but a game character I like to watch him. Off the rounds I saw I'd say it was a draw and can see why Peret was annoyed at 59-56 which is piss poor scoring.
Ferguson as others have mentioned, in this and prevous fights you do look absolutely shattered by the end. Definitely need more stamina and speed work as opposed to weights/strength cos otherwise a decent boxer and some good attributes.

I once made that comment on another site that:
'Ferguson needs to keep off the sunbed, out of the weights room, develop some core fitness and actually learn how to fight'
He was less than pleased and somewhat abusive in response, however on the evidence of Friday's dire performance my comments are more true than ever
Go over to the EBF Dave, they only fight 3 x 2 mins, ideal for your 'stamina' and 'fitness' levels
u ever boxed mate, for a start, daves dad is black,so that makes dave of mixed origan,he does'nt hammer the weights like a lot of roid heads in the heavys,ok he tired but would'nt you if you had 18.9 of fat leaning in you.

Personally I don't think there canbe an excuse to look THAT tired after 6 rounds of boxing, especially when Ferguson isn't particularly a 'workrate' fighter as such.
I would be worried about training methods used definitely, or maybe even underlying health problems e.g. maybe asthma or something for someone to look so shattered after a few rounds and then claim to have trained well.

Dave Ferguson V Larry Olubamiwo - sort it all out
The winner to fight Billy Bessey for the WBU Intercontinental Youth title. Billy would surely come out of the retirement for a belt of that magnitude.

Enjoyed reading this thread. Respect to Ferguson for rolling with the banter. I had Bessey edging their Prize Fighter bout mind (tho am quite biased as I had a big wedge on Big Daddy B that night and prior to that we kissed once in a Hartlepool nightclub)

Dave hasn't created another poster ID. Farmer30 is Hartlepool based scouser and pro light midddle Shaun Farmer.
