He is only one win away from a professional career high, if he beat Williams for the British title, yet he would rather not fight.

He doesn't even have the decency to retire, he just stops fighting.

I dont personally dislike him tbh.

However I do think he should just retire and admit (to himself) that he wasnt really good enough to cut it as a pro.

Wiining an Olympic Gold medal is a fine achievement and even though he turned pro late, i think it was something he had to do, to see if he could cut it. Otherwise he would have forever thought what might have been.

As it transpires, his pro career, his losses, his fear of getting hit etc....have cast some shadow over what he had achieved, as an amatuer. Sometimes things go that way , I guess.

If you cannot beat the likes of Sprott, Williams, Guinn and Rogan (and I mean no disrespect to these guys at all) then really it aint gonna happen.

Would Harrison do a Gatti.... like go down 5 times but keep getting up, or take the bombardment of the Ward fights... no he wouldnt. Skill aside, Harrison couldnt carry Gatti's jockstrap, and he will be forgotten by many long before Gatti

If harrison wants to make a come back all he needs to do is book a fight with danny williams. cut all the a force im going to be world champ crap out, and say before the fight he wants to make it as a world class pro boxer more than anything, win the fight. Then paint himself as the honourable underdog.

he could be massive if he just had that bit of kill and some humbleness.

I also think Haye owes Harrison one, not a fight but the chance to start his career off again on one of his undercards or one of his promotions.

yeh think ur right there, the british love the underdog, a bit of humbleness from a failed man who wants it more than anything. That is guaranteed to gain him a massive fan base and marketability.

Agreed, but he never will, and he'll look back on his record and tell himself and all the liggers what a success he is.....

People are harsh on Big Audley. He did a lot for amateur boxing even before he turned pro and subsequent wins over Williams and Francis are impressive. He was a good fighter and though he never fulfilled his potential he has a lot to be proud of. Its ok saying he wasn't brave enough and things like that but in reality thats a bit daft bearing in mind what he did achieve Olympic Gold medal etc. Seems like people just dislike Audley for the sake of it.

I would never knock the bravery of boxers, given the point already made here about what it takes to get in a ring in the first place. I have however always doubted Audley's confidence in himself as the division has been very weak and for me he showed an unwillingness to really test himself from an early stage when the division was wide open. I thought it very revealing that he put so much stock in going the distance with Julius Francis - given the pace (or lack) of that fight and the stage of Francis' career. Given what we have subsequently found out about Audley I think deep down he doubted his ability to succeed as a pro.

Having said all of that I think it is unfair to him that many tend to dismiss the success he did have - it doesn't get much better than Olympic gold, as many legends of the sport (Ali, Leonard, Foreman...) readily testify to.

i think the main thing is he has a big mouth giving all the talk but not backing it up. We'd all be dissin Haye if he didnt back up his talk.

That's not true mate. His wins over Williams (fat as fornicate and ill prepared) and Francis (???!!!) were impressive? Come on, he was lauding himself as the second coming of Sonny Liston.

He got found out, still can't be humble about it, and is nothing more than a joke now.

Shame, but it's his own fault.
