Let's just say the WBO and thier rankings mean very little to me, mate. No offence.

Yes, I basically follow my own rankings. I feel I do a better job than some of these experts.

I do, but what had Barrera done at lightweight to derserve a ranking of ten with the WBO?

Ventura and Rojas?

To me, that is just plain daft.

Khan is only being put into this fight because the belt holder is something of a plodding non-puncher. Two things that will play to Khans strengths. Having said that, its still a competitive fight.

I saw the title of the thread - I thoroughly concur with it - Khan makes me sick too - however with that said you have to congratulate Mr W arren - whether we think Khan deserves it or not - W arren has positioned Khan bloody well considering the manner of the Prescott defeat - in addition Freddie Roach is also getting the very best of him and many boxers are going to find it extremely difficult to cope with the speed and range of punches that Khan has.

However - as soon as Khan goes in with a decent boxer who can cope with speed then he gets badly exposed as a fighter who cannot cope on the backfoot and cannot cope with some punches coming back in his direction and he certainly cannot cope with pressure being put on him!!!

I freely admit as stated on other threads I do not have a lot of time for Amir Khan or his team - but I will repeat Mr W arren has done wonders with regards to promoting him after that Prescott loss.

I will also be honest enough to state I sincerely hope Khan loses against Kotelnik - but I do not think it will happen - I have the fight as a very clear win for Khan unless of course Kotelnik can cope with Khan's speed - if he can then Khan's in trouble - but even I have to admit Khan's speed is awesome and its that which gets him out of potential trouble everytime. - I would truly p*ss myself if he lost!!!

It's a good fight, one I hope Amir can win as British boxing could do with a shot in the arm at the moment.
Not only that, to me Khan comes across as a nice guy and is entertaining in his fights.

Not sure what he has done to make so many people feel sick? Did he have you all round for dinner and undercook the chicken?
Seems quite a strong reaction to have about someone who is trying to compete at the top of a sport that you all claim to love.

As KG would say, you lot really are a bunch of moaning old women sometimes.
I can see this fight going 2 ways, proper 50/50. Isn't that what people have been crying out for?

Lets not hate on Khan

This is a proper fight

If he wins this he deserves credit

Because I rate Kotlenik highly enough to believe he can and will beat Khan on Saturday

I took a pop at Khan on another forum saying he didnt deserve his shot - but someone pointed out to me its the promoter who pulls the strings and Khan is just fortunate enough to have the right contacts to get the fight - and so he takes his oppurtunity that any top pro would take given the chance to win the World title...........

There is nothing wrong with this fight at all.

You cannot blame Khan for his promoter getting him a shot at a belt, if you want to blame anyone, blame the alphabet boys for sanctioning it.

It's nothing special to Khan, Olympic golden boys often get moved through the ranks fast, as they are ticket sellers, and therefore the promoter can offer nice sanctioning fees to the body.

It's nothing new in boxing and I don't really understand the outrage.

yep it's a bidness as well as a sport

i'm sure a solid, not so well known champ like kotelnik is chuffed to fight a young upstart for what is likely a considerable payday in an event that will get him more recognition than any other fight

IF Kahn wins on Saturday his achievements for his first 22 fights will be better than most including Ricky Hatton. Why do people seem to forget this, his career imo has progressed as well if not better that most others at this stage, and considering he has no chin whatsoever that are really pushing him forwards very quickly.

I think they are pushing him quicker precisely because he is so brittle. They cannot risk loads of fights against contenders, because the wheels may well fall off and then the dream is over.

Better to get him to a title he can maybe win, such as this one, few soft defences, and then cash out with a big fight against a name like Hatton or Pacquaio.

yes i agree thats why imo the skipped the British Title to much risk for relatively little gain

he has been a pro for nearly 5 years

barrera is shot if you dont know that then you are in the wrong sport and he aint no lightweight ffs

a prospect needs tested , khan has never been tested vs a good decent world fighter in the top 20

khan has no chin and has been matched more carefully than joe calzaghes firts 8 years as a wbo champion

boxing is dying , the way guys are being brought on is shameless , its all about the ££££

to be the best you need to beat the best.....khan cannot even start to say this

prescott does him in a round again
hatton does him in under 4

he cant grow muscles on his chin
Earl and St Clair were decent tests at the time, and both impressive victories in their own way.

I think fair play to him for getting in with Barrera (albeit faded) and now Kotelnik so soon after that loss........bit harsh on him IMO.

So wins over 25-19 Sammy Ventura and 1-7 Freudis Rojas make/made him a top ten lightweight?

How silly are you?
Oh so you don't rate Haye a top10 HW, how hypocritical are you? Barrera beat in my eyes the number 1 LW in MArquez

Nope, to be a top 10 heavyweight then you have to beat a top 10 heavyweight.
