Horse, If Gavin Rees & Mc Closkey fought who would you pick to win the fight?

Nicky Cook isn't 11 either but he is the second best SFW in Britain without a doubt the highest he should be is #15.

Skelton has only won the EBU, Commonwealth and British and that is quite a bit lmao.

Perhaps McCloskey has achieved more than Duddy, but Duddy has a competitive record measured against other fighters around the same ranking as he has in the list. I don't know why you think it is he who should be replaced to accommodate McCloskey.

alexpaterson wrote:I would have Cleverly and Small higher and posssibley Booth I think Napa, Cook and Arthur are a bit to high
Cleverley and Small are both new to the list, so I didn't want to enter them too high initially. If they both make successful defences of their titles then they will climb the list fairly quickly.

Booth fights Hunter in October, so that is his chance to rise a good number of places. Recently Booth has been fighting opponents that he has been a clear favourite to beat, against Hunter he won't be such a large favourite, so it will show more of what he is still made of.

Napa, Cook and Arthur are all former European champions and Arthur and Cook are former WBO champions as well. These fighters have been operating at a superior level than most fighters below them, so I am reluctant to allow lower fighters, who are unproven at their level, to surpass them until they have proven worthy or the higher ranked fighters have shown that they are no longer superior.

Alex arthur should be not on any lists.
You are surprised that I removed Thaxton after his loss to Glover, yet you don't think that people should consider Arthur to be amongst the top 30 P4P in Britain? That seems bizarre to me.

Clinton Woods was the IBF champion for over 3 years, and made 4 defences of his title, against mostly top 10 ranked opponents in the independent rankings. Woods's ranking is well earned and I do not see any reason to rank him lower.

Jennings level of opposition is appalling, considering his reputation. If he is as good as you say then he should fight and defeat better fighters.

Are you sure McCloskey is fighting in September? Is he fighting M'baye for the European title?
BigEars wrote:Gavin Rees hasn't fought since March either..........although that was March 2008.
Granted Rees is fighting in 4 weeks time but my general point is what the eff is Rees doing there ?
Rees was the WBA champion, so he could afford to be inactive longer than British level fighters and still retain a place on the list, as he had further to fall after he stopped fighting.

I would favour McCloskey.

Cook has been operating at the world level, Mitchell has not. Cook is as high as 11th on the list because he has proven his worth over time, and has only recently lost his WBO title.
brian13 wrote:Skelton has only won the EBU, Commonwealth and British and that is quite a bit lmao.
You don't think that winning those titles is a good achievement?

I will ask this again, what happens if Afolabi loses his next fight? Is he still not in the list - but the man who he KO'd makes it!

Since when was Lebedev considered good or world class, certainly not before the Enzo Mac fight. He was an unheralded, unproven fighter.

And why no Herbie Hide?

Then why is Rees on the list when you would pick Mc Closkey, if those two fought each other.

Don't forget you're comparing a lightweight and a light welterweight.

Many would pick Khan to beat Hatton at the moment, but this list is also based on achievement.
Also Rees beat M'baye, whereas McCluskey best scalp is against a man who lost to the Frenchman

I would put Macca way back. In the last 18 months, that guy has been spoiled beyond repair.

Also, is this list based on past achievements or how good the boxer is now (in terms of ability), mate?

it has to be based on current ability/achievement or it doesent make sense.you couldnt have dlh in the top five of a world p4p list simply because hes boxed in the last 12 months and has a great c.v

On current ability then Maccarinelli shouldn't be in the top 30.

If Afolabi loses his next fight then he will not be entered. Maccarinelli might have fallen off the list by the time Afolabi gets another fight, so I don't know if the guy he beat will still be there if Afolabi loses his next fight.
stujones wrote:Since when was Lebedev considered good or world class, certainly not before the Enzo Mac fight. He was an unheralded, unproven fighter.
Fair point, but I think that a P4P equivalent of Lebedev would have a good chance of beating most fighters in the bottom 10 of the list. I don't want to punish a fighter too much for taking on difficult opponents and losing.
stujones wrote:And why no Herbie Hide?
Hide has been fighting journeymen recently, and I will find it difficult to enter him into the list off the back of a win over such low level opposition. If he beats an opponent that is decent then I will be able to enter him.

How about former world champion, Cesar Bezan? or Garnacia (who had beaten Maussa and run Lazscano to a controvesial decision).

Sorry Horse, I still don't understand the policy regarding Ola, chances are he will fight before Enzo Mac now - and what happens if its against the WBO champion proper.

Hide's fought some journeymen, but some with decent resumes also. I think he deserves to be there ahead of Cleverley.

McCloskey's next fight will definitely be M'Baye for the European title and barring a injury it would be very very unlikely to be on any show other than the undercard of Dunne v Kratindaenggym on the 26th of September.

It is based mostly on achievement, with recent accomplishments counting for more than older accomplishments, for obvious reasons.

Based on what he has shown recently then you have a good point, but he is still there based on what he has done in the past.

They were good wins for McCloskey, but Rees won the WBA title by beating a top 10 world ranked fighter. I consider Rees's achievements to be superior at the moment.
stujones wrote:Sorry Horse, I still don't understand the policy regarding Ola, chances are he will fight before Enzo Mac now - and what happens if its against the WBO champion proper.
If he beats the WBO champion then he would get a good place in the list, if he lost then he would remain unranked. I think that there is a good chance that Maccarinelli will fall out of the list before Afolabi has his next fight.
stujones wrote:Hide's fought some journeymen, but some with decent resumes also. I think he deserves to be there ahead of Cleverley.
Hide is one of the top contenders for a place in the list, but I just find it difficult to enter a fighter onto the list off the back of an average predictable win. Hide doesn't have to beat a superstar, but a win over someone respectable would make it easier for me.
