I find it suprising they havn't matched him with Ganoy. Katsidis fought him in his 17th fight, Ben Cruz fought him in his 10th fight and Ben Rabah fought him when he was 21-1. They obviously don't have the faith in Lenny that everyone else seems to have in there fighters.

Or they don't want to give one of their guys a loss...

When Angelo Di Carlo was handling Ganoy, he offered Zappa's team a fight. Grange did the same when they recently took over Ranee's career. Their wasn't any interest from Team Zappa.

The two have sparred a few times ;;-)

I don't see it happening anytime soon with Lenny set to fight in the US. That's fair enough. Plus it's not like Zappa goes around sprouting himself as the best blah blah blah.

This fight would have been a good test for Lenny and a gauge of where he is at. Boxing is more business though, so it would be too risky now with bigger plans ahead of them. Zaps a good kid so I really hope he defies the trend of prospect fighters going to the US and not having success.

Ganoy does punch hard, i think Lenny would beat him though. it would be perfect preperation for his US Debut getting a good tough fight in here first.

would loosing here before going to the US really derail his chances of making it. Perhaps it may even make him more attractive to prospective opponents. Loosing doesn't mean that your career is over.

Ganoy punch's hard, but can he recieve a hard punch? i think team Zappa should get on this one, it's a risk, but a good risk.

Save for Ranee's last fight where he walked on to a big right hand, he has never been dropped. Angulo was alot bigger than Ranee and didn't make weight.

Lenny has been dropped by the much smaller Dulog (x2) and Langham who wasn't the hardest hitting lightweight. Zappa's chin might still betray him. He's back at 135 and apparently he has a hard time making lightweight.

Olartes has suffered a few kd's since his arrival but he was never troubled against Lenny the other week.

I know who my money would be on :)

Maybe Shaw has told them that as long as Zappa keeps winning, he'l use him on his show. I know when US managers are interested in local stock, often they stipulate that x fighter needs to keep winning. Not to say that a loss means that they close the door completely but it seems to work along those lines.

But you make an excellent point. Since when does a loss really curtail a career for a prospect? The next Oscar, Victor Ortiz just got ko'd by an Argie who could wack. GBP still have big plans for Ortiz and he has sponsors lining up for miles. Amir Khan suffered a brutal ko but was still signed by GBP and his career is still on the up. Bounced back with a WBA belt against Barrera two fights later.

You learn from losses. Stepping a fighter up isn't a bad thing. Oz boxing has this hell bent desire to protect a fighters O on his resume. It may help sell tables for the promoter but I'd even debate that. If these kids have big local followings, I'm sure they would still pay to see the kid fight after a loss. Its been proven recently that 15-0 records here don't seem to count for much over there.

I have been saying this for years, Mismatch after Mismatch will only keep shitting on this sport.
If guys are stepped up progressively they will learn more. They might get a loss but will no doubt learn more and come back a better fighter. There are many great boxers that have had early losses and still had successful careers.
Paul Briggs had an early Ko loss and look what he went on to accomplish. DeMori did and is now a far better fighter. I also think Medley has looked better since his loss also.
There is no shame in losing and learning from it. But continuelly fighting Soft opposition will eventually spell trouble when they meet a World Class guy and get a real lesson in Boxing. When it may be to late to learn from it.

Agreed. It is the perfect fight to judge where he is at before heading overseas.

Alls i know, if i was heading to the US, i would want to make sure i had the best preperation, Roel Mangan, or any other Bohul boxer isn't going to give him anything other than another 1-2 round workout, and pose no threat to beating him, Ganoy is the only fighter currently fighting here in the Ltweight division that pose's a threat, and it's a strong threat.

I think if Zappa push's himself he wins IMO!

Zappas management team don,t want him to get smashed like Willy Kicket got smashed in the USA .Holt seems to dangerous to soon for Zap.

Ganoys opponent on the Aug 14 card is Indo Roy Manihuruk. 12- 8 (7 ko) -2 loss-2 draws.

He had a ko win two fights ago against Zoel Fidal...the kid who Willie Kickett had a pts win over.

Not looking beyond this fight.....but what are Ganoys plans for the year? Is he going to rack up a couple of victorys and head back overseas for a title shot?

I'm interested to find out.
