Froch takes this i think. Dirrell will have to guts it out and go through hell to get there, and he doesn't seem sturdy enough. Froch tires him out and stops him around round 9.

Have we considered the possibility that Dirrell blasts him out before it turn into a war of attrrition.

I know the suggestion is a bit left field but you never know. He may just plant his feet, use his speed , power and stance to land hard and often. Froch has been down against Taylor so would it be a great shock if he sees the canvas against Dirrell

Not a scenario I'm betting on with my hard earned but one that I think is being overlooked

It's being overlooked because froch has a good chin as he's shown against natural heavyweights (Barny, Pascal et al) and Dirrell hasn't got much of a punch he does well with a number of punches but I've never known froch be landed on consistently without replying (he took a few vs taylor but many of them were parried) while Direlle looks a bit scetcy under seriouse pressure.

i know what you mean

noone expected Mosley to smash margarito all over the ring

despite toni's proven chin, the extra athleticism of Shane meant he could land at will. i agree wiht both your airing the issue and refusing to bet on that outcome  :TU:

There's a huge fanfare surrounding Dirrell on the American boards how he's the new Roy Jones etc etc (i dont think so).

Dirrell is only 25 and a bit immature and a gobshite. I don't think his legs will allow him to perform as well as he thinks on the night. 9,000+ Froch fans baying for his blood, fighting away from home in a foreign country will have that effect.

Wheras for Carl, the arena is like fighting in his front room, he's that familiar with it all. It takes 11 minutes for him to hop in the car and park at the arena.

Incidentally Froch begins trainings at 7am today with McCracken. With gym work this afternoon and apparently he's raring to go now after having a couple of months off plus the excitement over the tournament.

The guy trains likes a beast.

Is he fully fit and injury free Gomez??

the arena is a key factor.in the states even the superfights just dont have atmospheres like ours.i believe the bout is scheduled to take place at around 3am and unless dirrell is a very mentally strong young guy,he will wonder whats going on with thousands of pissed up brits booing him,his anthem and going mad for everything carl does

Direll has not been past 8 rounds I believe.

Carl Froch will come on late and I expect him to get to Dirrell, who I have to say, deserves a measured quantity of respect for his boxing ability.

Agreed, dont think it would have been the same sort of fight for Taylor if he had fought froch at the nottingham arena. Also Dirrell hasnt had a pro fight out of the states before.

Froch will be beat at some point in his career, that's for certain. He's just looking to be out-boxed by someone with quick hands, a decent chin and engine. Is Dirrell the man to do that? I can't say as I've never seen Dirrell fight?

So I would appreciate some input on him, please.

Thanks Gomez. Dirrell's power isn't bad, hence breaking Oganov's nose, but it's also not great. He landed flush on Hanshaw to no effect, and generally takes a while to get someone well below his class out of there.

Obviously Dirrell is a very good boxer, but it was interesting to see the potential for countering his shots. It looks a lot easier than it really is, I'm sure.

The most telling fight is the one against Hanshaw. He caught Dirrell with an OK shot right at the start. Dirrell didn't like it at all. Not sure why he bent his knees so much. Because of the punch or the pressure?

Dirrell believes he has a lot of power in those wide uppercuts. When he throws those it's because he wants to close the show. It would be funny if Dirrell and Froch had a war with uppercuts. Froch would win that.

Anyway, I still think Dirrell fights like he's scared. He's a runner. Brilliant hand speed, though, and skilful.

Who's froch sparing for this one, anyone know... I was watching Dirrel finley and thinking ideally he should fight someone from middle or even super welterweight. Idealy Amir Khan, fast hands, quick feet and with a good jab but no need to worry about the power.. just a thought.

Switch hitters from the Ingle gym, like Brook etc i imagine.

Then maybe Eric Teymour the crafty southpaw. A bit of Barker maybe.

Not sure as of yet, but it'll be a blend of lefty's, righty's, big and small.

I just watched 2 of the videos of Dirrell, I have to say I don't think Froch should overly be losing sleep. Yes he is fast and skilful, but he's been fighting bums, that is clear to see.

Not only that, he doesn't have much power, he can't even KO these bums properly, Froch would walk through the bums Dirrell has faced and have them out properly, Dirrell pitter pattered his way to TKO wins.

I see that there are ways Dirrell can win the gfight, clearly he will in all likelihood have a fair speed edge, so can win rounds on points, however I just see this as a massive jump in levels for the kid, he has never been near someone of Froch's power, of Froch's experience going 12 tough rounds in his last 2 fights.

Ok I'm a Froch fan, but some of the talk that has been coming off the americans makes out like Froch has absolutely no chance, what a joke, this Dirrell kid is decent but they are getting way ahead of themselves, he is looking good against bums but making heavy work of getting them out of there, someone with the chin, power and stamina of Froch is gona give this kid SERIOUS problems.

It's all well and good saying Direll will easily win rounds. Winning rounds against Froch might seem easy but actually people will need to throw a lot of punches to win the rounds because Carl will be coming forward and landing.

Can Dirrell fight at a hard pace for 12 rounds? We will see.

I aint sold on his power tho, in that first round against Oganov he was whacking the guy over and over again and Oganov didn't go down and stayed in there for a while afterwards. Froch will take those shots and whack Dirrell back which will be heart breaking.

I'm going to go out on a whim here and back Dirrell to beat Froch. I just think Dirrell's speed will give the Nottingham man a bit of trouble and he can steal rounds with in and out tactics. If Froch loads up and tries to blast this man out then I see the American taking the spoils.

I think the fact he's not used to fighting people that aren't significantly smaller than him is a big factor because he won't be able to fight at distance and jab because froch will be able to counter those jabs.

The fights come to soon for Dirrell and it may be the type of defeat that he never recovers from mentally.

I think we'll see a much more relaxed Froch than we have seen in the last two fights and he should be abit quicker and fluid at the start.

Dirrell doesn't handle pressure well and if Froch jumps on him early it could be a short nights work. If Dirrell is allowed to find his feet and get into his rhythm then he has all the skills and speed to pile up the points.

Very talented fighter is Dirrell and if he wins this we have a SuperStar on our hands. I just can't see him beating Froch who is awkward to fight against and solid in chin and punch.

I think this will be the night where Carl fights like he's the Champion and oozes confidence.

I am actually going to bet a tenner on a Dirrell stoppage. The least likeliest of scenario but my 'spider sense' is going crazy about this fight and I just feel we are in for a shock

Before Taylor I would have thought Froch in easily and this may be the case. However Taylor dropped him and buzzed him a few times and Dirrells stance, speed and combinations could pay dividends. I've liked what I have seen on the videos but then these guys he has been beaten wouldnt trouble Froch in the slightest. Then again, who did Williams have on his record before he took on and comfortably (imo anyway) outbox Margarito.

I just have this pictuire of Froch throwing that Dragon Punch of his out of range nd getting the fornicate countered out of him on the way to being dropped and stopped

One thing fcor sure this is the fight I am most looking to for the rest of this year, second only all year to Hatton v Pacman
