Fury has never fought a fighter in the same league as McDermott who has fought at British level and came close to winning on 2 occasions I see McDermotts expierence winning the fight for him by UD Fury has never been past 6 whereas McDermott has done 24 rounds in his last 2 fights so he can go the distance I see the later rounds being all McDermott

I don't see why they don't take they're time with Fury, he has all the time in the world to develope and get some experience.

I still think Fury's size will be the difference in this one. If he can keep Mcdermott on the end of his jab, he can take him out with a few heavy right hands late in the fight.

He'll be made to work for it though.

I like Fury to win this one, and win it reasonably early. McDermott's two losses to Williams over 24 rounds have been somewhat overstated. Williams is virtually shot these days. No stamina, no balance, and his punch resistance is ripped to shreds, and still Mcdermott, even with Williams badly hurt, failed to put him away.

I wasn't sold on Fury initially, but he's quick, got good hands a fair dig, and seemingly a good chin. I like fury to be too quick and too aggressive and to bust McDermott up.

How will Fury's stamina hold up if John can take him a few rounds?

We shall see, but lest we forget, McDermott is not some uberman himself. Going 12 rounds with Danny Williams doesn't demand a wildfire pace these days as Danny has the output of a white dwarf at the edge of the universe these days.

Fury will be throwing a lot more punches than Williams, and I don't fancy big John to be able to get out of the way quick enough.

Im with ya on that... John's been looking good in sparring, is on the ball for this fight..
Never see tyson last fight but heard he looked Bad, he's only 21 and for a Heavy Weight thats very young i dont see the need for the rush.. iv been impressed with him so far think he's got all the tools, just not the Knock out Blow is more of 5-6 shots..
I see him coming out very fast for the 1st 4 round then all john from there taking him out late..

Don't forget McDermott has the home advantage, so he's less likely to freeze.

Undefeated heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury says he’s counting down the days to his first title fight – an English title showdown with “Big Bad” John McDermott on September 11th.

The 6 foot 9 inch heavyweight sensation is undefeated in 7 pro fights with all 7 wins coming via knockout and he’s determined to maintain that perfect KO streak against McDermott.

A back injury had hampered Fury’s preparations ahead of his most recent outing in London last month but the 21-year-old says he’s fighting fit ahead of his date with McDermott. “My backs 100% again now and I’ve been working very hard in the gym. I’m really fired up for this, it’s my first title fight and I want to win it in style.”

Fury will challenge for McDermott’s belt after promoter Frank Maloney submitted the winning purse bid to stage the fight. The bid is believed to be a record for an English title fight demonstrating just how big an impact Fury has made in British boxing since turning pro last December.

The Hennessy Sports promoted Fury says he has no problems fighting in his opponent’s back yard on a rival promoter’s event. “It will make a nice change for Frank Maloney to finally have a decent heavyweight on one of his shows. I’ve watched some of the big lumps he’s had on his shows recently and its like watching Dumbo on Ice, they can barely stand upright, let alone throw punches.

“To be fair to John McDermott he’s the best of a bad lot with Maloney’s heavyweights and thankfully for him he can fight a lot better than he looks.”

Maloney recently criticised Fury saying that he had a big mouth but Fury says he’s ready, willing and able to back up his big talk. “That’s the difference between me and a lot of these other guys. I might talk the talk but I walk the walk as well and I’ll prove that against McDermott.

“Maloney obviously believes that McDermott can beat me but I think that just proves what I said before, what Maloney knows about heavyweights could be tattooed on the back of my big toe.”

The latest venue mooted for the bout is the Brentwood Centre in Essex but Fury says he’s not fussed where the fight takes place. “They keep changing the venue, first it was the York Hall, then it was Crystal Palace and now I’ve been told it’s moved again to Brentwood but they can put it on in McDermott’s back garden as far as I’m concerned, the result will be the same anyway. I’m going to be coming home with that English title belt.”
YES HIS RIGHT FRANK MALONEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HEAVYWEIGHTS, HA HA HA ask a few who HE looked after but i like to thank you for helping promote the show but than you are being paid your biggest purse to date by a rival promoter and going on a tv station that promotes british boxing. If you fight as well as you talk no other heavyweight has a chance with you and you are sure to be as great as LENNOX LEWIS.....

Why not? Or should Lennox Lewis not have fought for the British title, since he's of Jamaican parentage?

I think Frank knows a thing or two about promoting heavyweights, he didn't do a bad job with Lennox.

As for the fight, Fury looked out of shape for his last one, i know it was just a warm up fight but he admitted after that he'd struggled with a back injury and lack of sparring, will the back be in good order by the time of the Mcdermott fight?

Fury is rubbish. It's just that other boxers in the division are worse. It would be good to get a half decent British heavyweight on the scene sometime soon.

Fury isnt rubbish at all. Who was the last ehavyweight produced in the UK to swathe through opponents like Fury? You might not like him, and he might not be the second coming of Ali, but its totally unfair to call a 21 year old 7 fight novice 'rubbish'. Especially considering his opponents to date, and the manner of which they've been dispatched. John Mcdermott in his 8th (is it??) fight?

Also, agree with James. Everyone talks of John Mcdermotts stamina after going 24 rounds in his last 2 fights with Danny Williams... come on... this is the shot to pieces version of Danny Williams, no ehart, no desire and everything looks, well, gone, going or never there.
