If you dont think he isn't owt special then there is something up with you mentally, he is a very talented boxer and world-class fighter. Flint go back to the rock you crawled from under and stop this obsession with Enzo.

Klitschko would have obliterated him in less than 5 rounds.....either, or. Not saying that that makes someone no good, cos Haye is good and he's got a good set on him, I admire that, he's not a ducker. Am just saying I don't think he's this fckin second coming that people make out he is.

Enzo could have beaten Haye.

Look, I hate Enzo and everything he stood for in boxing. (WBU, fighting bums, etc).

However, he was going the right way with things like his hard fought win over Bruce Scott. He learned a lot there about coming back and grew in confidence and heart. BUT he just stayed in his little coccoon and fought BUMS for years. This is what took the edge off him and ripened himm up to get BLASTED out by the likes of Haye.

Maccrinelli had the potential. Good size, speed, and power. Things to work on. If he'd have taken himself to America and slogged over there for a couple of years instead of living the high life with his WBU and fighting bums and believing his own hype about his power, he could have been a lot better than he was.

Haye was dropped by Mock and Thompson and has been hurt. It would only have taken one from Enzo.

Unfortunately he was just found out as a bully. You listen to any of his interviews and it's impossible to like the chap. He seems like an absolute prize pr*ck to me. And it's a shame, because it's that foolish attitude that killed his career. Now he's in bigtime limbo. He really only has himself to blame though.

The thing is you cannot honestly say that I couldn't but then again I couldn't honestly say that i could I just truly believe on the street its a different matter all together.

Maccarenelli wanted to be the best at his chosen sport. In his weight division. He would have been ranked #1 cruiserweight if he beat Haye.

The guy tried to become the best cruiserweight in the world, but he failed. Why go into any sport and not try to become the best you can be?

Enzo wasn't good enough. He wont be remembered in 100 years time. All respect where it's due. The guy tried and it didn't work out for him. Maybe he can become a great trainer? Something he couldn't do as a boxer.

Yeah mate I understand what you are saying

Enzo deserves the respect of being a raw fighter who was willing to step in the ring with the Hayemaker

He got guts and heart

Its just in hindsight it looks like that fight ruined him - at least mentally

He took the chance - but he was found he was not on that level - but he was unable to bounce back

That means the fight damaged him long term - rather than be a learning experience
What on earth are you wittering on about. Enzo was supposedly a world champion, he at least had a belt, and was being touted around as the best in the division. If he wasn't going to fight Haye, what was the point?

The chances are, that Enzo simply wasn't as good as he and some of us thought. I always thought Enzo looked pretty good, and actually (shamefully), backed him to beat Haye.

I think he's been psychologically ruined by the defeat to Haye - but what you gonna do? He had to face up to the biggest threat out there at some time - it's not like he was a young prospect is it? Enzo had been fighting for almost a decade, and had defended his belt several times.

It's ridiculous to criticise his management, as if he had been thrown to the wolves. Enzo was supposed to BE one of the wolves.

Well, only because of Setanta, allegedly. Would you fight Wlad K for free? That was what the deal amounted to given Setanta's imminent demise.

I think the Haye fight definetly effected him but I still think he could've won that fight. Haye doesnt have the best chin and Macca has great power so there was always a chance he could've won. He should retire now though doesnt have it any more imo

Yeah mate

But that is in the past

This thread is not to bleat on about Haye and Enzo the fight

The fight is a closed case - Haye smashed him easy

Its to discuss now Enzo's career is over - did the Haye fight effectively end his career

I think it did

I have always claimed this also

Some arogant posters on ESB have laughed off my claims when I made this point

But Frogemeni "nearly" beat him

Ultimatley credit has to be given to Haye for finding the heart to pull the strength from somewhere to stop Frogemeni

However during the fight - Forgemenei pressured Haye and had him in a bad state

Haye was cut and distressed - and I believe almost actually bursting out into tears because he was so upset that the little fella was bullying him

Lucky for Haye Frogemeni was a light puncher otherwise...................

I agree - Enzo could have done alot better against Haye - he made the fight easy for Haye - he froze and backed and allwoed Haye the freedom and the range to launch his tasty right hands

The way to fight Haye is to keep the pressure on him and fight him and bully him - then he aint half so good

Unforunately Enzo froze on the night - his big talk turned to dust

I understand your bully comment - I dont think in real life - but in the ring - when he was in a real competitive fight against Haye - you saw a side to him that was "mentally weak"

As for the "prize prick" - I think the flaw in Enzos character was he had such a big uncomprising ego he could never admit to losing to a better man wether that was Lee Swaby, David Haye, Ola Aflobai or Lebdev - there was always a excuse - and he still claimed to be a better fighter than even the likes of Haye after he had lost.

Even lighter weight fighters at British level like Takloo could KO a average man easy

Imagine Wayne Alexander punched a average guy who though a little guy like Wayne was a easy target

Colin Jones a welterweight who trained behind my back garden KO'd with one punch a big professional Welsh Rugby international who picked on him in a pub

Never happen? Don't be so sure, I have heard Joe is going to come out of retirement for a street fight Rocky Balboa - Tommy Gunn style.

Its not old ground

This is a refelction on his career now it appears to be in ruins and looks over.

The lesson learnt is maybe not throwing fighters in too deep

Because a loss like that seemed to ruin the rest of his career
You say Enzo going in with Haye was throwing him in to deep yet say you thought Enzo would have won over 12? And with Enzo being WBO 'world' champ and one of the top two cruisers in britain how was that throwing him in deep?

yeah I tend to follow the boxing more than the politics....i have no interest in second guessing from snipets that those in the know , want, or don't want you to know / think.
Some people on the forum take a far more excited approach about why this never happened or why that never happened, without ever really knowing.....I prefer to just f*ck all that and follow the boxing.
I suppose it depends how close to whoever it is that's concerned....I have taken particular exception to one fella in the past on such a basis.

I know one thing though!! Klit wanted AL the German money, ALL the American money PLUS a fckinfat old share of Dave's British TV money, where we pay to root for Dave - Oh, AND ALL of th egate money.......and in a 2 horse race with a massive puncher and natural athlete and big coconuts like Dave Haye, that's too much fckin money!

Not Shakespeare , but makes sense!
