Cotto's not that good. While he has sharp tools and hits hard - especially to the body - his athleticism is pretty damn poor for an apprent "p4p" entrant. Cotto has all the punches and is brave but there is something drastically missing. By the time Kell Brook is ready - I would think quite a while - Cotto will be dead at the weight and faded.
For the moment, let's see if Brook can do Jennings impressively, and see if he can earn favourable comparisons to Cotto.

Cotto won three of the last four rounds against "fit as anything" Clottey. I agree, Cotto doesn't have the best stamina, but to be honest, I have only seen him really falter against Margarito, who throws so many punches per round and tries to tire you out.
And Margo is pretty good at that, loaded gloves or not.

he's brilliant ffs.
even the one time he got beat his opponent had to come thru some serious fire to get the better of him.

Kell Brook will end up world champion. He is a wonderful talent who is getting better and better. He can hurt you to the head and body, is accurate, very strong and has a good boxing brain. If some of you get the chance to meet him then you will realise that he is a super kid.Very friendly and approachable.
On a seperate note, I really think Cotto struggles to make 147lbs and 145lbs will do him no favours against Manny Pacquaio.

I think people should calm down a bit! Kell's just talking himself up a bit - hardly a new thing in boxing. Something to do with getting attention and selling tickets?
In truth his feet are very much on the ground and there is no way Dominic is ever gonna let him believe that he's the second coming. He is a shy, modest lad actually and I don't know anyone with a bad word to say about him.
Despite what's been said, i don't think they'll even go looking for the KO against Jennings because they have far too much respect for MJ to do that. The possibility of him getting outboxed is very apparent and there's no way Kell's team are daft enough to send him in there loading up.
In my humble opinion, Kell does have all the tools to go all the way and be the best welterweight (or light-welterweight) in the world but there is a long way to go. What he needs now is proper tests in the ring and Jennings will certainly provide that.

Thats why he weighed in first time at 146 for his last outing. Took the extra lb off for a laugh.

Cotto is top drawer. An excellent fighter and one of the best body punchers in the game. His ability to maintain distance but still throw hurtful shots is first rate.
He would destroy Brook at this point in time. Brook is a very promising fighter and it`s applaudable that he wants fights with the likes of Cotto, but the fact is he is not ready for such fights.
Jennings will prove a very tough fight for Brook, let alone Cotto.

With you all the way Dan.
Someone has to talk a fight up to generate ticket sales and interest generally.
Not for us boxing gurus but for joe public.
Mikey will be doing the same thing in the coming weeks.
Some boxers are good at it, some have to work at it.
Of course we've never heard a boxer at Kel's current level proclaim themselves as ready to take on the World, have we ?
This kid is our best prospect by a mile.
Good luck to him.

every prospect in the world calls out the top guys, nought wrong with that as a confidence booster. From what ive read brook is taking the michael jernnings fight very seriously so hes far from arrogant either.
i dont think jennings truly believed he could beat cotto but hes far from shot aND hes coming to make a statement so im looking forward to a very close ,exciting fight, very good for british boxing

Clottey - seldom puts in a full night's work. has loads of lapses and - let's not forget - was fighting with one leg after "cyclops" cotto wrestled him to the floor.

he's not great, and he's not outstanding.
perhaps i should have emphasised the "that" in "not that good"
he's veyr good but his stamina is poor and he's getting slower

Oh, sorry. I forgot about Clottey's "*injury*" during that 5th round. The fact remains, Clottey was all wrong for Cotto (energetic, good defence, will go the distance, has a decent work-rate and can whack a little). Not to mention that Cotto was fighting with one eye during that fight. Great fighter, no doubt about it, matey.
* If Clottey was injured from that incident in the 5th then I suck DG's cock every Sunday after his weekly bath.
Cotto's main weakness is his stamina, that you're right of, but be fair, Cotto is a beast and one of the best around. Like someone said, did you watch Margarito/Cotto? To beat Cotto you have to take his shots with your face and wear him down good and proper. Kell will never be good enough to beat this version of Cotto, IMO.

It's just the usual hype, it's just because Cotto beat Jennings and it's all relevant etc etc..
Deep down he probably thinks Cotto would stuff him but there's no harm in promoting the fight against a guy that's fought Miguel Cotto

I personally dont think Cotto is overrated and I dont think Pac takes him, never mind ruining him
Even if he was vastly overrated he is still several levels above Brook. Do you think Brook is gonna land that telegraphed straight right without eating one counter left hook from Cotto? It would be even less compettive tnan the Jennings fight. I woulnt even give him a punchers chance
Ambition is one thing, shooting your mouth off is another
If this was Jamie Moore talking about fighting Paul Williams I would still say JM will be pasted but at least he is proven european leevl competitor who has in a way earnt the right to call out the champs
Brook has not.
I think Cotto's pretty easy to hit for the most part, not many have had problems landing on him. I don't think he beats Cotto no but nothing wrong with shooting for the stars. Its time for Brook to move past British level after this fight and move up to Euro level or even a gatekeeper type.
BTW I had Cotto losing his last fight to Clottey who was only throwing about 10 Punches a round

In what way has Brook been a breath of fresh air?
He has been blowing away low level domestic fighters. Jones and Elwell were not even in the British top 10 Welterweights when he beat them.
In that he has brought an air of excitement, got the females coming back to fights because he's a bit of a looker, can punch and is willing to take on a challenge?
That enough for you Horse?
Of course he'll never make your top 5 though until he displaces Alan Minter and John H Stracey you fornicating pedant.

Kel Brook is special, bring em all on! The question should be is Cotto ready for Kel Brook?
Brooks been tearing through the domestic ranks with ease, but he's looked great doing it. He looks to have a great boxing brain and undoubted power...... of course we stll need to see how his chin and stamina hold up when he's tested, but I'm confident that Brook is the next British BoxingSuperstar.
Hopefully this is his last fight at Domestic level before being fast tracked for greatness.
Brook Vs Khan would be extremely interesting somewhere down the line. I'm an Amir fan, but I'd definately pick Brook if the fight were to happen anytime soon. I think Khan is tailor-made for him

Is he a bit of a looker? He might be willing to take on a challenge but his level of opposition has been average.

No, I don't really agree with 3 of your 4 points.
