its complete and utter madness. as you say it could easily be moved or surely sky could do a 3 hour show on that friday and incoporate both shows. surely with technology today that would not be too hard to do. unless barry hearn and matchroom would not agree to that. boxing really does not help itself sometimes.

I don't see why people are blaming sky on this one. From my point of view it seems Sports Network have jumped the gun by booking the venue without contacting sky first. Matchroom already had a agreement with Sky on the 6th of November for Paul McCloskey Vs Souleymane M'Baye. Now I don't believe for one moment that Barry Hearn wanted to give up that date, why would you as a business want to give up a date to another rival and miss out on a pay day and a chance for your fighter to become a European champion, that doesn't make sense. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't Sports Network on a fight by fight deal with Sky? They can either get another TV company to show the event or get in the line.

I think Wazza promotions have a deal! But surely sky want both and should make promotors come to an agreement

Rogan V Sexton was moved to this date first, being the only date at the venue, due to an injury. Sky gave Matchroom the date as they didn't have another in November and Matchroom needed to get the EBU title away or lose the opportunity for McCloskey. No Promoter is at fault and I believe both actually spoke to try and resolve it. Warren offered to put McCloskey on the undercard too. These two Promoters are not at war and are probably the most logical, business minded men in the game. The situation is a victim of circumstance not rivalry.
Rogan V Sexton was moved due to an injury to Rogan, as a Sky punter, I ask the question; if Man Utd V Chelsea was called off due to bad weather, would Sky not show the gane on the rescheduled date becasue they had already promised, but had not announced, Wolves V Burnley?
I think we all know the answer, if they wanted to they could resolve this issue, there are seven days in a week after all.
I agree it is crazy but at the same time surely the public would rather see the rematch of a previously seen and controversial Heavyweight fight than McCloskey V M'Baye which hardly has the makings of a classic in my opinion.
Being the very people who are paying to see the best of Boxing on Sky, yes we pay the fees via our subscriptions, shouldn't we be the ones to decide which fight we actually want to see?
Both fights will go ahead on the 6th I have no doubt and both Promters will probably do their cash in staging them, that's no good for anyone in the long term. Rogan V Sexton definately will go ahead Warrens office have assured me and I'm told that it may now be for the British title as well, presuming the title is now vacant.
It seems crazy that a fight like this won't be a FFN purely on merit. Sky's monthly propaganda hypes the fight up no end, so are they now telling is that because the date as changed that the fight is no longer a great match up that 'you can't miss?'
One would have thought that with fights like Sexton V Rogan 2 and McDermott V Fury 2 the British Heavyweight scene looks to finally be coming alive and they should show it developing. With the likes of Audley and Chisora also in the mix as well, a clear picture is developing as to who the best British Heavyweight might be. If Haye gets flattened he's in the picture and if he wins a legitimate all-British showdown for the WHT might be somewhere down the road.
Last Friday's Heavyweight offering was entertaining but, come on, Audley winning was foregone conclusion to anyone who knew their onions, wasn't it? Does three wins over 9 rounds agsint novices now make Audley a serious player again? Of course not, even Hearn can't revive Audley using all the hype and some he puts into his other sports. His eyes were still bulging with fear everytime he committed himself and sooner or later he will be found out again by anyone with even a small amount of heart and desire.
As I have said before, Prizefighter is entertaining, but please put it on Sky 1, it's like the football masters, it's a separate thing to the serious game. Please Sky don't use the budget up with a tournament for has beens, never was's and never will be's when decent fights like those happening on 6h November are getting left on the shelve.
Perhaps someone should start one of those polls on here and let Sky see what the public want. The public being those faceless individuals who's bank accounts they plunder every month with an obligation to supply our choice of entertainment.
Proper titles you told us, no more Interconties or WBU, IBO baubles you said. The most worrying thing is that another November date is probably being used, so I hear, to tell us all that 'Magic'
(Trade Descriptions Act anyone?) Matthew Hatton is challenging for a world title just like the one his brother holds - The IB bloody O! That is a waste of a date and our cash if every there was one.
Sky do a great job for our sport but in November it look like they have sadly boobed domestically at least.

I agree that there MUST be a way for this to be resolved. I have posted on here already on the subject.
I do quite like the idea of Sky 1 for the prizefighter nights. It might also help bring boxing to a wider audience (which I believe was always the intention). Freeing up boxing budget can also only be a good thing !
Of the two fights, Sexton Vs Rogan has to get my vote. I can't wait for it (even if I do end up watching it on You Tube the next day :( )

The lunatics have taken over the asylum!
After reading a very interesting and superbly written piece by Thomas Hauser I now wonder if Sky are falling for the same trick that the HBO suits have fallen for with Golden Boy.
The fact is we have, whichever your preference, two legitimate fights for proper titles which should both really be shown on TV. Instead, we now learn that Matthew Hatton fighting for an IBO title is our November offering from Hatton and Sky in Stoke of all places. Young Hatton doesn't interest me at all, if he wasn't Ricky's brother he would slip under every radar.
Golden Boy have ruined the US market by operating what appears to be a closed shop policy with their cosy pals at HBO and as a result the sport is in rapid decline and TV bosses are having the finger of suspicion pointed at them and young fighters, good ones, are being frozen out if they aren't with Golden Boy.
The Hatton TV deal raised a few eyebrows and one can only assume thaty landed this deal purely by having the carrot of Rickys future fights dangled in front of them. Didn't Naseem string out the same yarn for a few years and like Hatton just got fatter and fatter until the carrot became a marrow and any comeback talk became a joke.
Hatton like Golden Boy are just re-cycling old fighters and enticing others away. Like Golden Boy they won't build fighters from the off, no investment mean the roots of the game will die.
Are Sky so naive to ignore many of the other non-TV promoters who have experience and know-how in favour of Ricky Hatton in the same way that HBO have in the US by favouring the incestuous Golden Boy family? At least Oscar won at the highest level. Ricky is juts a good level opponent for the real elite.
Reading Hatton and his Lawyer in Boxing Monthly just goes to show who they model temselves on only they look and sound like a poor mans version. Simply put. Forget the date clash with Warren and Matchroom, the real issue is that this has happened because Sky have given their PPV darling Hatton dates that they are incapable of filling with any quality as they simply don't have the fighters to do it.
Whoever at Sky sanctioned such a daft deal should be kicked into touch as the years of work that Sky have put into boxing is now going to go the same way as HBO because of Golden Boy.
I wonder how long it is beofre Hatton comes up with his own version of the Ring belt too and sells us and Sky more dross. they they will have to buy under threat of him not selling his next fight to them? Why the loyalty, didn't Hatton bugger off to Setanta when it suited? Perhaps the 'Pukka Pies' belt would be suitable for Hatton and Co.
Hausers article was excellent and maybe now he should turn his attention to what appears to be happening over here between Hatton and Sky.
It's a mess and will only get worse until another TV station comes in and creates some competition.
In the meantime, look forward to numerous defences of fringe titles by Matthew Hatton until such time it's his turn to get brutally exposed just like big brother did.

Now that Matthew Hatton-Lovemore N'dou has being postponed, Friday the 13th of November is a free slot on Sky Sports Friday Fight Night. Surely either Rogan-Sexton or McCloskey-M'Baye could be moved forward a week so that both fights can be attended by the Irish fans and also both fights could be televised live.
