Floyd didn't miss the weight. The fight was mandated and contracted at 147 lbs. The agreement for 144 was a complicated personal arrangement between the protagonists.martin_g91 wrote:I love this fight ! This is a better fight than Mayweather/Pacman. Styles make fights and I would love to see what happens when Floyd Mayweather is in with someone his own size AND with comparable speed. Mosley may be a bit past his best but it is ONLY a bit ! For my money, Mayweather won't take it (would love to be proved wrong), he is turning into even more of a bully than he was and won't be taking any chances anytime soon. Paying for 2 lbs on the scales last week was low (especially when Marquez was ALREADY giving away so much). You don't miss the weight by 2 lbs, when your 2 lbs over, you had no intention in the first place.

Berto or Clottey would be acceptable, as far as I'm concerned. They're world-class, not too old and they're welterweights. Berto's fast and can dig, and Clottey's hard as nails. Wouldn't be big (enough - for Floyd) money fights, though.hitman_hatton1 wrote:berto anyone.![]()

Re: Floyd v Mosley
So the arrangement to fight at 144 lbs was just a gentleman's agreement between Mayweather and Marquez? And there was nothing in the contract about it?hayemaker1000 wrote:Floyd didn't miss the weight. The fight was mandated and contracted at 147 lbs. That seems highly unlikely to me.

No no, you're correct, the terms of the agreement between the two of them were well defined and documented. But the actual stipulated, contracted weight for the fight was 147.Horse wrote:So the arrangement to fight at 144 lbs was just a gentleman's agreement between Mayweather and Marquez? It's all about timing Stu.stujones wrote:So let me get the straight James.
Floyd calls out Mosley when he was a Super Feather - he was out of order cause he was nobody.
Floyd offers Mosley a fight four years ago - he was only doing it cause Mosley was "shot".
Floyd fights Mosley in 2010 - He's only doing it to run away from Cotto.
The term "cannot win" springs to mind.
We've already had 3 threads with 4 different fighters (well 5 if you count Pacquiao and Cotto as 2) as "the one" he should be gunning for. Williams, Pavlik, Pacquiao, Cotto and Mosley... which one is it guys.
ALOT easier in the fab fours day to become the man.
The fact is, Floyd wants the fight with Mosley when he has something to gain from it. But now he's a P4P top dog, and he's unbeaten after a fairly long career, he won't entertain it.
I doubt he will fight Cotto if he beats Pacman, which I think he will, and I think he may either retire again or fight Mosley if Cotto wins.

BUT
As someone rightly said. If Mosley looks bad in his next fight, I bet Money May signs on the dotted lines.
I really don't know what Floyd has to worry about though. Mayorga was beating Mosley until the end.
