q1 i dont mind stepping in with bigger punchers cos i think am big and hit hard for my weight plus been smashing the weights for over 12 monthsSpud wrote:Hello Derry,

So - with respect I am going to ask a couple:
What are your realistic ambitions within the sport - clearly you were "dead at the weight" fighting at Feather - but stepping up the extra weight are you concerned stepping in with potentially heavier punchers?
Do you realistically see yourself fighting at European level or do you just want to fight in the bigger domestic clashes to make a few quid?
After your victories against Stephen Foster Jnr, Matthew Marsh and John Simpson the hype in you increased big time and of course this was increased with your association with many of the Liverpool Football Team - did you take your eye off training a bit due to the hype or were your problems solely down to weight making problems?
Thanks in anticipation of your replies!!!

mate i rate choi a top fighter always have and always will , thats why i boxed him i beleive in this game to be the best you have to beat the best , and yes i would love a rematch need a couple of fights at superfeather then the fight might happen if the guy is still around , wish he could get a few fights under under his belt and prove to everyone how good he isTykemania wrote:On the "hard questions" line, I'd like to know your thoughts on Choi Tseveenpurev, who seems unable to get anybody to fight him after the number he did on you (no offence, just calling it like it is). Would you fancy a rematch?
Thank you!!!derry mathews wrote:q1 i dont mind stepping in with bigger punchers cos i think am big and hit hard for my weight plus been smashing the weights for over 12 monthsSpud wrote:Hello Derry,

1) Who do you see as your the #1 in the country, and who do you think would win in like a box off between Mitchell, Cook and Burns, do you think Andy Morris can comeback and make an impression.
2) What do you think of Michael Brodie's comeback - are you pleased to see him back.
3) What do you think of the people who have labelled you "dirty" derry after the fight with Jon Simpson. Do you worry about potential crowd trouble at your fights. You have a large fan base, but also, maybe sadly, there are alot of people who sort of want to see you get beat cause of how that fight was potrayed. That must be a huge distraction.
4) Who do you think will be the "man" at Lightweight next year, Murray or Arthur.
i would love that rematch mate next week if i could plus i would like to see him on the scales this time and weigh 9 stone 4Horse wrote:Do you have any plans to have a rematch against Ramogoadi to avenge that strange defeat?
Or don't you think that is important?

Cheers, all the best. I also rate Morris highly. Always thought you two were destined to fight each other at Feather.derry mathews wrote: i see kevin mitchel at number 1 then ricky burns , yer i beleive andy can come back an be up there in the mix for titles hes a top fighter and i think the break will of done him good ,am made up brodie is back in the ring use to love watching him fight never in a dull fight , the people who called me dirty well il just let them say what they want about me , thats why when i boxed marsh i wore it on my wast band, not worth arguin with boxing fans , plus my fan base is one of the best around i would say, always had good support were ever i box and they would never course trouble they have to much respect for other supporters , people causing me dirty would never be a distractoin i dont have distractions when am in trainin for a fight i just get on with my work and beleive me in are gym u have to work ,,,
