Valuev is a better boxer than Haye

55/45 fight for Haye, whose win over Monte Barrett seems less impressive after the fat slob Solis destroyed him in two rounds without being dropped

Except the Barrett that fought Haye was:

- a year younger

- not inactive for a year

- coming with several months' notice, rather than several days'

- coming off a big win rather than a big loss

The Barrett that fought Haye was already long finished going into that match and had been stopped by the likes of Cliff Couser, so I never really regarded it as an impressive win in the first place, especially considering that he was legitimately dropped. To me he is still yet to beat a decent heavyweight and there are alot of questions to be answered when this fight takes place.

You're probably right in your assessment of Barrett as he was versus Haye, but I just don't think comparing a Barrett on five days' notice to the one who fought Haye is a fair way to appraise either Haye or Solis.

Anyways, I think Valuev takes this by stoppage. Was convinced after I saw his little segment on SSN the other day. I dont want to get into debate as to whose the better boxer because it is amott point. We know Valuev an go 12 rounds, we know he has a strong chin. We dont know if Haye can go 12 and we don't know how good his power is at this level. Monte Barrett got dropped by Cliff Couser and the less said about Bonin the better

I believe Valuev is a better all round boxer than Haye.

He has a much better jab and better all round skills. Haye is faster with his punches and has faster movement around the ring.

Valuev has huge size and reach advantages. I believe Valuev has good power and their chins are incomparable... Valuevs chin is much sturdier.

Valuev has never been hurt or down. Haye has been down numerous times. His chin hasn't improved. He is still chinny and may go down very quickly in this fight.

Haye does not have the defensive skills of a Chagaev or Holyfield. He does not hold like a Ruiz. I do not believe he will go through the fight with valuev and not get hit. He may hit valuev but I do not believe he can KO Valuev. I do not believe he can get a decision in Germany.

Valuev wins this fight. The odds are outrageous and I will be having a big bet on Valuev. I suggest others follow.

Valuev was beaten by Chagaev (a decent boxer) and an aeging Holyfield beat him in my opinion (another decent boxer).

Haye will knock him out/stop him in the first few rounds, purely on speed. Size is of course important, but speed moreso.

Haye has enough power, that combined with the speed, will have the big Ruskie in cuckoo land. i just hope Haye actually goes for the knockout, as a mauling 12 rounder with the giant will not bode well for haye. He needs to get in and finish it early. Force the ref to stop the fight.

Edit: As far as Solis goes, so what if he did a better job on Barrett than Haye did? Despite carrying way too much weight (something that seems to have many writing the guy off), he doesn't seem to have lost that much speed or skill and he hits like a freight train. There's nothing to suggest that Solis isn't every bit the threat to the Euro giants that Haye is, at this stage... perhaps moreso.

Yep I had a bet on that and they only allowed me £45 as well - maybe I should open another account, though I've taken Valuev to win inside at 9/2 as well on other sites.
Those odds seems a bit on the mad side - like they've taken a very basic look: Valuev doesn't usualy stop people / Haye hasn't been stopped for years = Valuev unlikely to win inside distance.

Haye has the skills, and is P4P a much better puncher, but I think this one's all about size difference. I think the giant may be too big for this ex cruiser to have much chance of knocking him over, and I doubt Haye sees out 12 rounds - not with his suspect stamina...not to mention that chin.

I'd love to see DH do it, but if he doesn't, at least I've got a nice holiday sorted for next year.

Anyone who thinks Valuev is a better boxer should try and imagine how this fight would pan out if Valuev was 6'3 and weighed 225lbs. Same size as Haye for example.

I find it impossible to even imagine such a fight, because simply put, if Valuev was the same size as Haye he would never get anywhere near a world title shot, let alone hold a version.
He wouldnt even be in the top 100.

That should tell you all you need to know about just how skillfull he is.

Well I for one don't mind if you're right. I get an awful sad feeling in my stomach when one of my favourite fighters gets beat up, and Haye is my favourite. I won't be able to catch the fight, but any result is ok for me. Apart from some freakish occurence that somehow results in Valuev winning by decision of course.

I would tend to agree with you about the tall foes comment, but Valuev is a physical freak, he's not just some tall lanky guy who's going to fall over. He has the pug-like toughness of Fragomeni combined with the size of... well, nobody. Not ideal for blasting out a la Gurov.

lefthook, Betfred only allowed me £188 or something at first, then I put the rest on in a separate bet. Like what happened with the Wlad/Haye under bet. Them bookies can be wimps for sure with their moronic screening... to think I nearly couldn't get my Prescott KO1 bet down! If you don't like it, don't make the odds so generous, idiots!
