moore would never beat williams
i think moore has excellent potential. sometimes it is frustrating watching his career because it often seems to be a long wait. mooe is strong at the weight, puts on very strong pressure and often throws surprisingly quick power shots. he can only beat who is put in front of him, but i think his performances go up each time he steps up.

what is the big deal with paul williams? he's awkward and obviously difficult, but it took him 2 fights to beat quintana - a guy cotto carved up in 5 like a christmas turkey - and so what if he beat vince philips. if moore had been given the philips fight, i bet moore would have stopped him.

williams did well to beat winky, albeit and old one. what surprised me, was how weak and underpowered he looked up at the new weight. he was effective, but more so in a nuisance kind of way. williams doesn't have a southpaw advantage over moore, and maybe not even a power advantage. williams IS a horrible fight though, due to height and annoying arm punches. for every negative i can think of a positive: for instance, look at all that thin long body that moore can chip away at.

(i am surprised williams is in the p4p top 10 as ranked by most of the media. i think the 122-pounder celestino caballero is by far the better "gangler." i wouldn't pick any brits/irish to beat him. i would predict him to spank dunne and monroe.)

anyway, hopefully moore gets by the potentially tricky rhodes. i believe he will. i am glad there is a good prize. let's see if moore gets the martinez fight for the WBC title. martinez is no worse than quintana, who split two fights with williams, battered joel julio & was broken down by cotto. let's see what happens. if so, more ppl will believe in jamie moore!

I think Chave Jr isn't all that but who has Moore beaten that makes people think this will be a walk in the park

Wouldn't Chavev Jr be his best opponent?

I would say its between Chavez and Ryan Rhodes (who he hasn't fought yet). Lets put it this way... if Chavez was fighting Piccirillo I am sure most would back Chavez.

Jesus, you MASSIVELY overrate moore (as you do to most "pressure fighters"). He could "chip away" at Williams body?

You're surprised Williams is in the top 10 p4p?

Winky would teach Moore a LESSON.

well, moore is a good pressure fighter. i see potential in fighters like moore, murray j, murray m, etc. you know, barry mcguigan was a pretty good pressure fighter and he beat some world class fighters, incl the great pedroza. the current british pressure fighters with possibly irish surnames are the best pressure fighters we've had in many years. you wait and see what they can do, when given the chance. you might like your flappers and slappers and shoeshiners with tassles on their shoes and a promoter/matchmaker to protect their scalp, but i prefer fighters to get fvcking stuck in!

winky wright has become a fat so and so, and a part time, if not retired boxer with absolutely no power above light middle, a division he ate himself out of years ago. you know what he does when he's not fightng? eats donuts & speaks rap gibberish.

winky wright has won fvck all above light middleweight. he was a good fighter, he had his day, end of story.

reckon moore would make a good middleweight,. bet the power would travel up, also. let's see moore get this martinez fight. after he breaks down spice boy, moore will be one of the top WBC contenders down at light middle. martinez will eventually have to fight him. see what moore can do vs the southpaw stylist from argentina. this will be a nice gauge, for many reasons.

Expect to be taken back down to earth by the Rhodes fight first mate.

I like Rhodes but I feel over 12 rounds Jamie won't let him breathe, and although in excellent condition, I think Moore's engine will be better.
This said, RR is a heavy-handed mofo at the weight. As heavy as Jamie easily IMO. So it should be very entertaining, but I too go JM.

I agree with NEBF Rhodes is good if he has space to throw but under Moore's constant pressure I feel he will tire and Moore will pounce and stop him in the middle rounds

I reckon Moore will take Rhodes to pieces in under 8 rounds. Rhodes does have a dig on him, but Moore is in the ascendancy now and will just outwork him.

I still think Small is the best we got at light middle in this country. I really rate him. Him and Moore would be a cracker.

Distinctly unimpressed with Small when I saw him (the ony time) in flesh at the York HAll...(he was already giving it all that at the time).
That said , for since then has been very promising.

I had Rhodes to beat Small before it collapsed. Rhodes i like a shark, clinical. That is the exact antedote to Small's jumpin' around antics. Moore would be too organised for him too I feel, although Small is no doubt improving with the years.

It's not for me to offer advice but I don't understand why any boxer would be contemplating a theoretical match up when he's got a major fight in 8 days time.

garbage, mate. every 6 months you seem to have an anti pressure fighters rant. since the last time i'm sure you've seen moore and macklin, for example, batter some good opponents for EBU titles and get themselves world ranked.

you're so up paul williams' back end that you can see neither the serious flaws in "the scourge of welter, light middle and middle" (aka williams) nor the potential in solid, strong british fighters who know how to back up and break down opponents.

i'm sure rhodes will put up a good fight. he has a lot to fight for. it should be must-see viewing on sky sports - we do get a good 'un every once in a while.

back to chavez jr. michael jones, matthew macklin, sebastian lujan, michele piccirillo, and david walker are all easily better than chavez jr.

he was very good, certainly. i rated him back when he fought in britain those 3 times. i was chuffed when he beat mosley, but after that i liked him less as a fighter. hre's had excellent wins but i think moving up in weight wasn't a smart idea as it showed his big limitations - lack of mobility and lack of power.

well, we're not all boxers, are we? it's just an internet debate between enthusiasts and naysayers. moore and chavez jr have clearly been brought up due to WBC rankings, news that chavez jr will get some kind of big chance (for doing bugger all), and BN's editorial on the subject

If I was Steve Wood and was offered a slot for Moore again Chavez, I would take it so fast that the contract would appear signed before the offer had even been made.

Honestly, I'd love to see Jamie pound on Chavez for eight rounds or so. It'd be an exciting fight, Moore would almost certainly win, and it would really give him excellent exposure state side.

He hasn't exactly had the best of luck in his career, and he's one of my favourite fighters to watch on the UK scene, one of the most underrated, and seems like a thoroughly decent chap. For these reasons, I feel more than justified in wishing him good luck and hoping this happens.

i hope for both fighters' sake that whoever wins doesn't have to wait ages for a title shot. it;s great that it's an eliminator, that it counts toward something. it will be a damn shame if the win doesn't fast track the fighter into a world title shot.

kermit cintron is missing out most of all due to the latest WBC travesty, hes fought at world level for a while now, actually drawn with the champ(martinez) and beat a decent undefeated contender in his last fight.
in an ideal world it would be moore v cintron with the winner facing martinez. chavez jnr should face and beat a top ranked contender

Get Rhodes out of the way first. I fully expect Moore to beat Rhodes, but Rhodes is good enough not to be taken lightly (Which I don`t think is the case)

Anyway, I love these threads. A few ppl rightfully anticipate that Jamie Moore - the dominant British light middle of his time, now a brutal EBU champ - might perhaps earn a world title opportunity.

And what do some misers do? Bring up a fighter, Paul Williams, who is campaigning at a different weight, who could be the worst style, worst risk-reward matchup.

If you are a crowd pleaser and you win a light middleweight world title, what do you do? Do you try and grab one of the big welterweight names (Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Berto)? Do you perhaps try and get a fight vs a popular Irish fighter, in a big stadium? Or do you think "fvck it, Larval will give me more respect if I fight Paul Williams?

Worth pointing out that Williams is making p4p lists, yet has never defended a world title belt successfully.
