The problem in all female sport is a lack of strength in depth. In many developing countries girls are discouraged from sport, and in the west, they are discouraged by our society's obsession with them not being sweaty and always being well presented. My 12 yo daughters 30 minute PE lessons have been shortened by ten minutes to allow time for showers and the reapplication of make up.
So female tennis is full of mismatches. Female soccer has no strength in depth. And so on. No problem. But in boxing, the lack of strength in depth means either a girl cannot get quality opposition to help her improve or gets utterly mismatched. And boxing is the one sport where mismatches must not be allowed.
