Guys ,
Look at the bigger picture .
He just fought infront of 6000 people for his eleventh fight not all wanting him to win .
Its his home town lot of pressure on him to perform against a guy who is meant to be a big puncher.
Done the job in style and was over the moon .
It was not the York hall or small venue infront of 1500 or so people so he s entitled to be a little hyped .
Look at Mc intosh at the York hall v Clev his head was gone with the pressure so understand a bit guys .
Opticaid stick to writing " Dear Johns " Tool

right, i am on record as praising bellew's performance and saying he has more potential than cleverly.
that out of the way, i know what lirva means (aka opticald). not regarding this fight, but an older fight. bellew sort of screamed through his gumshield "I'm already the best light heavyweight!" then ian darke says something like "hang on, not just yet." ppl do react in different ways, and obviously your emotions are different just after a fight. bomber's posts are usually very balanced and solid on here. i don't think he would overrate his win, for instance. i think he must have been chuffed with his performance the other night, and he has good reason to be.

I'm not sure. Velecky certainly can bang- his record shows that- but he's 35, and lost a few (some by stoppage) and lets be honest, Velecky's opposition has been somewhat limited.
To call it a "step up in class" is somewhat debatable. A potentially dangerous opponent, for sure, but I think the real step up in class would be eg McIntosh.
For sure, it was a good win, and a strong performance- and I can understand the joy at stopping a guy who is a noted puncher so early- but lets not read TOO much into it.
I agree. The guy didn`t look too committed from what little time he was in there. Isn`t he a s-middle also? Bellew is a very big lt-heavy ... there will be stiffer tests before we get too excited. Are people getting a little carried away because `Bomber` is good enough to post here?

Velecky WAS a step-up, simples.
People are getting excited because this kid took Steiglitz 12 rounds who fights at the top, but then gets bombed out in 1 by Bellew.
Whicker, surely it weren't the mistake Velecky made that cost him the fight, but the original left hook that put him over

i really rate bellew's performance but the opponent probably wasn't as good as recors suggested. but because the guy had gone 12 rds vs the current worst super middleweight champion, i wonder if this will help bellew's world ratking, help move him up in class?

Frank will make the fight when he see's fit and when there is serious money in it for both myself and Cleverly, I'd personally fight him tommorrow but this is not how the game works and you guys know that.. ;;-)
Once again thank you for all the support and the comments, Im looking forward to fighting in December now..
Veleky was a defintite step up from what I've been fighting, I just hope to keep improving, Arnie and myself work endless hours in the gym on improving me and it's paying off now. Hopfully I can get a fight with a ranked light heavy soon enough

the original punch that rocked him onto the ropes certainly hurt him, and was a great punch, but he did seem to be more or less OK after his 8 count - the ref let it continue. Then there was this bizarre moment where he dropped his guard to look at his corner. Possibly a silly mistake - or possibly he really wasn't recovered. Pausing the You Tube, it's remarkable what he does. It's a bit like the near end of Sexton-Rogan- a lot like that, in fact.
Bellew did exactly the right thing- charge in there and finish the job

Great performance, that. Picked his punches very well and didn't lose his composure when closing the fight. I'd like to see him a bit more cut at the weight though. He didn't look soft at all but he definitely looked like he could be in better shape. Who is English champ at the moment? How about a fight for that belt?

I was sitting in the front row. I sent Terry a few texts on the night but had to head off to Degale's aftershow party immediately after the main event. Didn't get a chance to meet any Boxrecers (other than the boxers). I guess we can exchange numbers prior to the next big show

Well, the bar has been set hight! And why not!
But I will say this -I hope he is matched up against another good opponent in his next fight. It would be disappointing to see him given Slapzdik Dfreiski (13 wins, 15 losses, 3 KOS, Albanaian junior champion) or similar.
It would be logical to see and English title challenge soon, and British soon after.

we've got quite a few decent light heavies that would make a good domestic match up for Bomber.
Carl Dilks is from Liverpool and holds the Masters title, don't know if Carl and Tony have fought before in the amateurs?
other guys i hope matches could be made against are Darren Stubbs, JJ Ojuederie, Danny McIntosh and dare i say his name Matthew Barney

i hope bellew gets another good opponent for his next fight, but dont hold your breath!
its a fact that 5 out of the top 10 knocked a fight back with bellew for the show at liverpool.
for example dilks would have been amazing due to the venue and both being scousers an all but he ran a mile and when bellew made a public calling out on him, dilks said oh im really a super middle, but has fought over 70% of his fights at light heavy, then he said he only took the fights at light heavy coz they where great opportunity's, well what a load of crap. surly fighting in your back garden in front of 6 thousand fans is a good opportunity????????
bellew would fight any1 and if some 1 offered bellew a fight he would jump at the shot no matter who it was, maybe you fighters out there in ther top 10 and you know who you are, should take a leaf out his book. whats the point in fighting if your terrified of getting in the ring with some1 you have a chance of loosing against?
there is a hand full of people who have said vellecky was only good on paper, hes only an average fighter, ask your selves this do u think any other l.h. in the u.k would have got him out there in such good style that quick?
before these people have a go saying he should fight some1 who we all know to be a good fighter, remember 5 out the top 10 wouldnt take the fight. so he may fight foreigners a few times until certain fighters accept the fight.
well done bomber
great celebration as well, theres nothing wrong with getting excited when youv just destroyed a fighter who people expected to give you a tough time.

Thanks for the support guys I really do appreciate it.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion wether I like it or not, It is true about the numbers knocking back but also some do have genuine reasons.. I just wanna keep progressing and getting good fights with good opponents..
Thank you all again though..
