i weren't convinced he'd get it though. :o
I was fairly sure he'd get it. Valuev isn't a draw any more and Haye - Klitschko is where the money is.
I think the lack of American interest has to do with it not being a proper fight, with two men squaring off in the centre of the ring, rather than a cat after a mouse chase. As you say Haye v either of the brothers is what they want to see. Making Haye the winner makes sense, regardless of whether Haye did enough to beat Valuev. Its all about business.

Have to say Team Haye got the tactics spot on - i didnt enjoy the fight one bit - but Haye fought exactly the way he should of to win.

It wasnt a spectacle for the fans but Haye had to get the win and now onwards and upwards.

Haye v Ruiz will be a good fight where Haye could look very good indeed.

Now, he has the slightly smaller task (compared to Valuev) of chinning the Klitschko brothers. :P

Against Vlad, he has a slight chance.

Against Vitali, no chance in hell. :bag:

Im glad Haye got the decision. Couldnt give a sh1t whether he deserved it or not (personally i think he did). All i know is that Valuev is not good for boxing, His freakishly massive weight and height advantages (which are tremendously difficult to physically overcome) masks his limitations as a boxer and has allowed him to hold onto the title.

I dont think any other fighter could have done much more than what Haye did in light of the shear physical size of Valuev.

holyfield did better than haye! haye was more negative than dirrell! dirrell is a victim! valuev is a victim! bunce is biased! the fix was in! and the fix was in! don king told the judges whom to vote for, didn't you know! sometimes these websites are like dreamland. it's like there is no difference between inner thought and exterior world: i would call this psychotic.

meanwhile, in the Real World, haye is holder of a heavyweight champion after some smart if minimalist boxing v a giant away from home, a world title in a 2nd weight class, and due some massive paydays; dirrell was rightly penalised during his first big chance (his 2nd fight where he bricked it and ran& held) and is likely to get blacklisted by TV and end his career answering the Boxingtalk "you read it here first" mailbag; evander holyfield is likely to fight washed up cruiserweights - only ppl he can beat - after stopping punching after 6 rds v a disinterested valuev.

Congrats Haye, you've done us proud!

The fight was poor but engrossing. Haye did what he had to do, and got the nod.

Well done !!!

Congratulations to David Haye. This was a great victory, and whilst not entertaining the tactics were spot on.

Dont post much just look! But this man speaks sence, who wants to see this freak ponder around the ring time and time again, its seriously bad for heavyweight boxing, hope he dissapears now!

Toss fight but was allways going to be, how would you fight this monster?? Haye got it right and if he'd wobbled the hairy one earlier he might well have stopped him.

haye is no tyson or lewis but he's interesting and gets doubted every time but keeps winning.

Hope he makes himself a few quid now as he deserves it after all the setenta troubles etc...

Haye stumbled Valuev with a shot that was weaker than the one he missed with a moment earlier. The left that landed was on the neck, in fairness; that's always going to affect your balance. But still, the right that narrowly missed would've dented Vitali for sure.

The thing with Haye-Klitschko is that we all expect Haye to be floored after the first barrage that breaks through. The vision that Haye won't open up until he's hurt - by which time it'll be too late - is also in our minds, I feel. However, should he 'go Benn' there's every chance.

Well done david haye - great result, seeing Valuev almost go in the 12th was pretty exciting. Looking forward to the Ruiz fight - maybe at the New Den? :box:

Lennox Lewis couldn't put Vitali down with his right hand, how will Haye?

Vitali is older now and should be easier to knock down. I think Haye can hurt him if he lands flush. Big 'if'.

There hasn't been anything to suggest he is easier to knockdown. People were saying he would lose to Peter because he was older, but hes been boxing as well as he ever has.

Can't see him beating Vitali, not now, not ever.

Money would be on him to spark Wlad out though :TU:

Well done David Haye, from world class ametre to English to European to World Cruzer to World Heavyweight all without having to sell out to FW, proud to have you as a son of Albion and the traditional root too.

I think he'll have a good chance vs Klitschko, the closest to as fast as Haye Vitali has fought was an aging Gomez, Haye hits hard and Vitali is getting on a bit and could well be 39 by the time they fight, he'll have to have a good day but he isn't a right off.

No, I didn't mean to imply that. But what I'm getting at is that people constantly mention Vitali's age, yet he is just as dominant as he was back when he was 7/8 years ago.

Hahaha.

One could easily reformat that sentence:

"People keep saying Haye is chinny & that he'll get flattened, but he ends up confounding all us bitter old men."

How did you escape from the White Supremacist Klit-bros. love-in that is the Current Scene, crusader?

BTW: I shall repeat what I said 1 year ago, 18 months ago, & two years ago: my man-crush on David Haye gathers apace.

Congratulations Haye - he clearly won the fight, despite not being aggressive enough.

I believe a lot of the reason for people having it so close was Jim Watt scoring the fight as he thought a biased judge would score it rather than scoring it based on what he thought.

Haye may not have been doing a lot but Valuev hardly hit Haye all night

Actually most people including myself expected Haye to beat Valuev and end the fight in one piece. You can't flatten what you can't hit and the slow plodding Valuev couldn't connect. The Klitschko's both have the skills to land on Haye and land often and when they do he is going to be in trouble. Of course the same goes for Wlad, but I have trouble seeing Haye beat Vitali.

I have been fair to him in all my criticisms and I think he is a very good fighter who could have great success as a heavyweight. I guess your man crush is what's causing you to get so touchy when it comes to Haye

I have a story to tell, guys. I watched the fight at Sports Cafe, Hayemarket. Myself & three mates. Got there around 9pm. It was packed, great atmosphere. After about an hour, a guy wearing a fur coat, hat & a dapper-lloking suit, was escorted to a table across from us. The man was with a female. She looked a lot younger than him so I'm not sure if she was a girlfriend, friend or a relative. A bouncer took the man's coat, but the hat remained on for the time time being. The guy was obviously of some sort of stature because he was escorted to a table, while other people were waiting for a table. Even we were lucky to get one!

The guy looked over at me & as soon as I made eye contact, I knew who it was! I must have been the only person who knew who this guy was, because I was THE only person who made a point of going over to him, shaking his hand, having a photo taken with him & having a chat with him. Who was it? None other than Lloyd Honeyghan! How fitting did that turn out to be? On a nght when Haye, a british boxer, pulled off a brilliant victory, there was Honeyghan, the man who may have pulled off the most famous brithish boxing victory in history, watching Haye!

Lloyd was quite shocked that I knew my stuff when it came to Boxing. Needless to say we talk about the Curry victory, but I also commented on his fight with Sylvester Mitte, when Lloyd looked brilliant imo. Upon the arrival of his meal, I decided to leave him in peace, but before I did, I made a joke that by the size of his meal, there no chance of you making Welterweight again, is there Lloyd? He did laugh. Class act!

I'm very pleased for David & his close friend, trainer & manager, Adam Booth. They have both put the work in & now they have got their reward. Haye is now a superstar & he will become an even bigger commodity in the future!

I don't really see how people could have Valuev winning the bout? I mean, yes, he was moving forward all the time, but you can count on ONE hand how many punches he actually landed on Haye! I remember one particular round, Valuev actually hit the ropes because he could not cope with Haye's movement. Valuev was not effective, Haye was!

David is just the type of fighter the HW division has been in desperate need for quite a while. He is charasmatic, articulate, likeable, etc. Its definitely a much-needed boost for the HW division.

Good to see Haye train right & remain in condition even though Valuev was so much bigger than him. I think some other HW's would have reasoned that because of the weight difference, they would need to put loads of weight on. Haye did not do this. I do not think he needs to put any more weight on. 217lbs is perfect weight for him imo. No need to go up to weights like 224 or 230!

Did any of you see the press conference held earlier today with Haye?
