This woujld make a great article Terry, and I'm sure you would write it well but back in the real world you are taking the David Haye from 6 years ago and putting him in with Valuev, the world moves on, and your scoring of the fight is differant to a lot of peoples!!

Oh, and Yes the BBC and SKY are getting as giddy as you but look at the current scene, as I suspected they think the fight was a tedious joke, and I doubt HBO are coming in their pants after watching that!

I may be wrong, if we are set in Wembely stadium for Haye-Klit I will apologise, but I doubt that really things have changed that much r.e negotiations! But what i do see is Booth refusing to fight the Klits because 'Haye beat a monster and they aren't being respectful'

Was it a "bust hand" he was on TV this morning with 2 fingers taped.

Also, on "knocking valuev silly" - he seemed hurt for about 5 seconds then regained all his senses didnt he? Ive only seen the fight the once due to SKY not allowing me to recorded the damned thing, might try and catch round 12 on youtube or something, but whilst undoubtedly hurt I thought he was only hurt for a few seconds?

the 2 fingers taped is a splinting method to protect fractures of the meta-carpal bones, which form the hand, between your fist and your wrist. the bones either need fixing with metalwork or splinting. the one nearest the little finger (5th meta-carpal) is the one that more commonly needs internal fixation, due to the fact that is does not have bone on either side to splint it, it (along with a bennets fracture of the base of the thumb) is a traditional punchers injury. the tape is there to prevent mal-rotation of the injury, and it could heal well with just the tape, but, this type of fracture often needs internal fixation, so dont be surprised if sometime this week, we hear of haye having a pin or 2 stuck in it for 3 weeks !!

As for not following the 'jab to the body' blueprint, is that for real? He was jabbing to the body frequently.

He was definitely jabbing to the body at some stages - but define "frequently." Haye's punch output left something to be desired but he fought the right fight to get the win. That said, he also showed he had the ability to win the fight much more clearly than how he actually did. IMO He's still not got full confidence in his own stamina. I mean, for example, how many punches did Tua throw in his fight with Ibeachuchi? Compared to Haye's 10 punches a round. Get down to 230lbs and save us Tua, save us! :TU:
Frequently enough in the early going to give himself some space, shed a bit of rust and get his legs going after a long lay off. The shot played a factor in the fight in my mind.

As for Tua, that fight against Ike was yonks ago and to be fair Ike was a poor man's Lennox Lewis. Yes, Ike was potentially the greatest heavy who ever lived based off that win, and the Byrd one, but if boxing is 90% mental, and Ike is a raging nutter, then you can't place too much store on results versus Ike. Great fight and all that but Tua is not all he is cracked up to be and, in my mind, would not be able to cope with a) Haye's approach b) a world title shot.

Last time Tua stepped up his only meaningful attack came in the final round when Lewis made him miss, made him stumble and Dave's arse came up in the air and let out a little burst of gas that Lewis found rather unpleasant. Lewis gagged his way through that one and beat Tua closely on points in an absolutely robbery that he only got because he's British and was on away soil.

The only thing Tua can save is the world, if he promises to stop eating every F-ing thing on it.

 :TU: I was just giving an example of how many punches a heavyweight can throw - obviously that fight( Tua vs Ike) showed the most. Haye was on the opposite end of that scale - he can surely improve on this, regardless of whether he can use both hands or not. Yeah most likely Haye would outbox Tua, I mean Oquendo was doing it for most of their fight. But it would still be a much better fight than Valuev-Haye was I should imagine. Hopefully Tua can beat someone of note this century and get himself a shot......
