If Miguel quit vs Margarito.... then so did Wayne Rigby vs Michael Ayers.
Its a rediculous statement.... both Cotto and Wayne went over and beyond the call of duty.

I think Cotto left a little of himself behind that night against Margarito - his punch resistance has been cracked I think. That was a very hard uppercut he took, but he never really seemed to recover from it at all.
After the knockdown, all the power and snap was gone from his punches - he wasn't able to make any kind of impression at all.
The refs stoppage was a bit silly what was the point letting him take all those punches in the 8th and 9th and then stopping bim when he was clearly going to finish the fight.
Cottos corner were awful, it was obvious he couldn't win, and in fact had given up trying after the 8th.

cotto could of let his corner pull him out but stuck it out as long as he could very brave to the end

Cotto is too brave for his own good, and his useless corner is even braver. They should have shown a bit of compassion and pulled him out after the 9th round. He was a beaten man, had no chance, and they sent him back out for more. The kind of corner that can get a man killed.
It was painful to watch in the end, and the ref messed up his chance to do the right thing and stop the fight in the 9th, as Cotto was shipping some real damage. Instead someone, the doctor hopefully, had put a rocket up him after the 11th, so he dived in at the first opportunity. The timing was off, but it was the right thing to do. Manny seemed to be looking at the ref to stop if for around 3 rounds I thought.

Most corners would have taken him out on the 9th, they should of.
I can't help but believe that Santiago was so desperate for thim to KO Pacquiao based on how Roach got in his head that he put Cotto out when he should have pulled him.
I didn't enjoy the last couple of rounds.

I personally feel that he should retire as his face is going to swell in moderately tough fights. He's had a god run at things. Time to throw in his jockstrap and hit the beaches.
ITs sad for me, that it may well be the case that Margarito ended his career by fighting with illegal hand wraps, if that is the case, it's a tragedy, beause since that fight, he swlls and cuts very easily.

It was a great fight...i wish cotto fought manny before he met margz as he has never been the same fighter since..credit to pacman and cotto great display of skill, guts, determination and heart. i am a massive cotto fan everyone won with the fight it was good for boxing

I can't heap enough praise on Cotto for his effort against the pacman. I felt sick after some of the comments made about him following the Margarito defeat.
Pacquiao, although a convincing winner, didn't come through unscathed and that was probably one his most physically demanding fights he'd been in, especially when you consider he's in incredible form right now.
Cotto is an amazing warrior.

Cotto definitely hurt him with body shots early on - it was very competitive for 3 1/2 rounds, but once Cotto took that uppercut - it was really game over.
What worried me, was that he never seemed to recover fully from the knockdown, the strength in the legs wasn't there, and his shots seemed to lose their snap - that's a sign of balance problems, and it indicates to me that either his powers of recovery, or his punch resistance have been severely dented.
He probably went on a few too many rounds against Margarito - and has done the same against Pacman - I don't think he's ever going to be the same fighter.
I think Hatton is probably the fresher of the two men, his knockouts were brief, brutal and clinical, but not terrifically damaging physically, Cotto's have been p[rolonoged and sustained beatings.

Yes, would be a good fight for Cotto that - he is comprehensively beaten by the winner of that, and especially if he is busted up and stopped again, then I think it's time to call it a day.

Jim for once i predicted it right competitive for 4-5 rounds then a stystematic beatdown..not often I get me that right I know...........but fairly on the money here.
Cotto hasnt been the same fighter since Marg but he has ALWAYS been vulnerable Torres proved that, at the time we were all happy to say it was down to the weight but maybe just maybe he has always had that chink in his armour.
The corner shoulod have pulled cotto at the end of the 10th to be honest it want pretty to watch the last 4 mins of the fight.
