if you genuinely believe Prescott is better than Carl Johanneson....ok, not necessarily today's version then you're wide of the mark my friend, with respect.

Carl was always a quality operator. Sure they both can crack but Carl is an outright Lonsdale belt holder. Prescott caught Khan cold in the headlights and has since disappointed.

Kevin Mitchell's victory over CH was an excellent one you shouldnot be so quick to take anything away from it imo.
It was a good fight and a good win, but Johanneson is only domestic class. That's not taking anything away from Kevin, that's just stating the facts, based on the evidence. Johanesson wouldn't have gotten smashed to bits - twice - by Kirakosyan (hardly a world beater himself) if he was more than that.

Are people forgetting that Mitchell's 'defence' is much worse than even Khan's? At least Khan has some reflexes and raw speed to fall back on. Mitchell is just a straight up, chin in the air slugger who tries to box and move now and again. He gets caught by 90% of the punches his opponent throws and also marks up quite badly. His chin is probably better than Khan's, but how do we really know? Mitchell hasn't exactly been to the dragon's lair yet, has he?

I'm not sure how Mitchell can win this. I guess they're really banking on Prescott just being a one-hit wonder. I don't think Prescott is on his way to Canastota any time soon, but he's much too good for Mitchell.

Mitchell so far hasn't been really wobbled - Khan had been put down twice (officially) as a pro before Prescott... so they are banking on Prescott not having the power to hurt the "iron" chinned Mitchell.

Hasn't Prescott scored some late KD's also?

Only 1. In his fights with Abril, Toledo and Vazquez his punches seemed to lack the same venom later in the fight. It looks like the first couple of rounds is when he is at his most dangerous.

Never really thought much of Prescott to be honest. He can bang a bit, but he can't box. He has a decent jab but not much else. I think Mitchell can outbox him without much trouble, the question is what happens if Precott lands. I'm not convinced Precott will hurt Mitchell unless he catches him on the end of something wild and if that happens then Mitchell will deserve it. If Mitchell maintains his composure and works at a steady but consistant pace I think he can stop Prescott late.

Prescott is huge at the weight, Mitchell is coming up in weight, so I think Mitchell has got a job on his hands keep Prescott off and I don't think he will. Prescott TKO 10. :box:

Mitchell will win imo, Prescott isnt great he has a big punch but relies on it too much if you aviod his punch you can beat him I think Mitchell will stop him in the middle rounds

The guy Prescott lost to last time is much better than people think.

If you watch Prescott's punching style in his last few fights compared to the ones that hit Khan, they are now much more refined in my opinion.

I agree about Prescott not seeming as powerful in the later rounds but I can't see how he doesn't win this early.

He'll beat 54 seconds though

Who had life or death with Carl Johanssen?

Prescott via stoppage.

Okay lets put it this way, if Mitchell was fighting Miguel Vazquez (Prescott conqueror) who would your money be on? Styles make fights and I think Kevin made harder work of the Johanssen fight than need be. I think he can box his way to a decision win if he doesn't get caught. Big if I know, but thats what makes this fight the most interesting on the card.

Good post. I agree with all of that.

This could be one of those fights when too many of us are wise after the event, so it's good to see a few decisive predictions on this thread.

If Mitchell does win, he will deserve the credit he gets because it's a very dangerous fight....coming up in weight against a real banger.

I think Mitchell will show his boxing brain and brawn in this fight and get a latter half stoppage or points win.

Will the Board make the British superfeather weight title vacant now. As Mitchell never going to defend it!

If Mitchell wins, he will need to move up a weight to face Khan. Is this an official elimantor for the WBO title?

ofcourse they will. mitchell stated he is never going back down to sfw. they should have stripped him of the title ages ago tho!!

yes the winner faces katsidis. if mitchell looks impressive tho i wouldn't be suprised if wazza sticks him in there with khan.

This has to be a difficult night for Mitchell. I don't see how it could not be.

Surprised to see Prescott back on Khan's undercard though. Does Khan really need Sky Box Office to be showing viewers another few dozen replays of him getting sparked by Prescott last year?

I'm not that impressed with Mitchell, he eats far too much leather.

It's one thing taking a few shots at world level, because that's expected but it's another thing at the level he has been fighting at.

Prescott is nothing special either, but he's awkward and big at the weight - I see a close fight on the card with Mitchell coming through in an entertaining fight.

I like Mitchell in this fight, he's got the heart and chin to pull out a points win in what will likely be an out and out war.
I'm trusting he's got his defence a bit more sorted now, because while the Carl J fight showed he's got the fire and toughness to go far ( I thought he was going to lose that one half way through ) he also shipped way too many full on punches.

Prescott is his toughest test, but he's probably Prescott's toughest test so far too.

But imagine if Precott catches him cold? FW probably has a fake beard in his bag, in order to leave the arena unnoticed.

Brilliant result for Mitchell. He's getting there.

If Katsides is next for the WBO title, it will be a lot tougher.
