just to say, I watched that (no choice) then the boxing on ITV4 +1 (then just switched for the main event live).
Come dancing was more memorable.
I'm not being ironic.
The thing is, come dancing is
Competative entertainment. You don't know who will win and lose- and (even though the format is dancing) that IS entertaining.
(To be clear- I'm not saying Strictly is a great show. It isn't. But in my own opinion boxing shows such as the one on Saturday (due to the level of opposition) do little to stir the imagination or hold the interest. 3rd edit- ouch- I know there was an unfortunate late pull out, etc, that can't be helped.)

..........totally agree, but I can't see Hatton Promotions allowing. Ricky Hatton has already said in an interview with BM he wants to protect his up and coming fighters, let them pad up their record before letting them off the leash. Think Martin Murray is 12 months away fighting Barker, but Murray v McDermott for the English title is likely possibility.
With Jamie Moore moving up to middleweight, what about him against Barker in the new year?

Think Barker was quality. Fast, sharp and accurate. Over 600,000! Thats great news! Just think how many it would have been if it was against Macklin or a world eliminatater!

Boxing news says itv might continue. Also interested in Haye v Ruiz. Haye will be sky box office it makes the money for him, itv won't be able to pay him anywhere near the same money.

True enough, although it was a mismatch.

Considering Elcock has been knocked out in two of his last three fights and then pulls out of the Barker fight at two days notice nearly cancelling the whole show, does he really deserve a straight shot at the title? I would like to see him fight an eliminator first. Moore is recovering from surgery to his shoulder, so I don't think he will be back any time soon. Maybe give Tony Quigley a shot, he has just announced he is moving back down to middleweight. Quigley would be big at the weight, durable and would at least throw punches back. Barker is at the stage where he needs someone who will push him a bit.
