If it would have been a few skinheads, the incident would have easily been dealt with by the met who were there,
but it was a bit more than that.
As it was, it was one of the worst sporting riots in British history. It is also remembered because Marvin Hagler
became one of the greatest middleweight champions in history and people remember how he won the title. If it
would have been someone like Willie Monroe who would have beaten him and then lost the title in the first defence
- no one would care outside the UK.
And even then, it is not like British fans bring up the anniversary of the bout, its largely forgotten.
But if anyone has ever read Minter's autobiography then they can draw their own conclusions. Including a nice little quote
from his own father about racial selective breeding that produces the best fighters.
