Have a look at their records, they met in khans 20th fight, so look at Barrera's record up until his 2oth, who was he fighting? I must admit my knowledge of mexican national title fighters is limited at best but they can't be much tougher than the fights Khan was fighting. Barrera didn't fight for his first world title till he was 34-0, If anything Khan has been rushed into big fights, he should have been allowed to mature properly the same way Barrera did, but the public demanded more and more. I was disappointed he never fought Murray (could still do yet) and thaxton though.
Barrera wasn't even 19 years old by the time he had 20 pro fights, he turned pro at 15.

I think you missed my point entirely - it doesn't matter when Barrera boxed for his first title - I was talking about how MAB overall is everything Khan is not; hence why they might cheer the old warrior & jeer the arrogant upstart who beats hasbeens & never beens and gets demolished by the only young undefeated hitter he's faced.

I am not eactly a Khan fan because of his arrogance both as a fighter and as a motorist behind the wheel of a powerful car. I feel exactly the same way about Naz and it has nothing at all to do with race or religion. Anyone who reads my posts about Carl Froch will see I just dont like arrogant people, its as simple as that. Its not fair that anyone should have to suffer racist remarks but I cant see how moving to the States, Khan will leave this race hatred thing behind him. If its a boxing decision then thats another matter. I also believe a lot of people just dont like Khan as a person and even if he was C of E white British, he still wouldnt be popular with many boxing fans. Racism is still a problem although things have improved over the last 40/50 years both here and in America. In F1 I think Jenson Button is a more popular champion than Lewis Hamilton was, so sadly skin tone is a factor in that sport as well.

I think someone said Khan is the best known boxer in the Uk.

I disagree, I think David Haye is the most prominent and popular boxer is the uk, and deservedly so.

Spud wrote:The article in "The Sun" today (Saturday) and the alledged comments from Amir Khan have really dissapointed me - in my most humble opinion Amir Khan is playing the "Race Card" and in addition his bleatings want me to see him get beaten even more this evening by Salita - I dont think it will happen but in my view it will be great if it does.

Khan has in the past claimed he loves Britain - but yet he has supposedly been quoted that he is desperate to leave the UK for a supposed better life in the states.

I find his remarks dissapointing - in addition the article quotes how much he enjoyed Oscar, sugar and a few others coming to his training sessions and making a load of complimentary remarks about him - again in my views and opinion - the remarks are being made in similar fashion to the past where a promoter wants to sign a fighter and thus it will not surprise me at all if we see Khan sign with Golden Boy.

Bye bye Mr Khan.
Khan is right, there is hatred towards him for being a pakistani muslim boxer. Its sad to see but Boxrec has become a racist place lately with alot of new people bringing their disgusting prejudices with them and and some of the older posters have shown their true colours! its laughable to think some people here have this snobbish attitude to eastsideboxing and BS as though boxrec is superior...well boxrec has just as many fukwits now and maybe more.

Some of the racism aimed at him on the net would be a criminal offense in the real world but you get these cowards hiding behind their computer screens thinking they are bigmen when in reality they are just sad pathetic little people with nothing going for them at all except to hate.....i still remember the racism aimed at him on justin for the Prescott fight...that was simply shocking and just pure hatred, wasn't even a few knobheads either, it was hundreds and maybe thousands of viewers.

People emigrate all the time, just because you love a country doesn't mean you've got to live your entire life there, my missus loves the states but you can count on one hand how many times she's been back there since she came over here in 92.

After reading a lot of the comments - First of all I agree a lot of the abuse thrown at Khan is uncalled for and well out of order - I have no problems in stating that at all.

We all have a right to our opinions on this fine forum - lets put this another way - lets just say a white boxer stated "If I was black, I would be a superstar" - guys I am telling you now there would be flaming uproar - I will state again the abuse Khan gets sometimes is terrible however as one of you has pointed out - Khan states he is proud to be "British" as many of us are - if he is so proud - why is he so keen to settle in America - why does he speak about America in such glowing terms but it seems from "The Sun" article and others he less than positive about his own country that he states he is so immensly proud of.

For the record - I think Amir Khan has done fabuously well since the Prescott defeat - I also think his promoter and matchmaker have also matched Khan excellently well too - yet Khan rarely compliments them two - yet he is at pains to compliment ODH.

Some good points and I stress the abuse Khan and many sportsmen get is uncalled for - but do not let this cloud what in my opinion is out of order comments concerning Khan and the country he is so proud of yet it seems he is so keen to leave behind now he has made his fortune.

good grief Spud. So if he's done well here he is obliged to stick around, even though he might triple his earnings in America.

He will get better sparring andbecome a better fighter over there. He has that opportunity now that he is a wealthy man. He would be a fool not to try to fullfil his considerable potential. I for one will remain a fan.

That's just the way it goes lad, it's like there's a saying around here that Speke Airport is now named Liverpool John Lennon Airport because that's the first place he went when he made enough money.

Where would you rather stay? Wallowing around in this increasingly decrepit country or start a new life in California?

Hello!!!! :TU: :TU:

If you dont want to stick around - fair enough - but dont bleat on, on how immensly proud you are of the country on one hand and then play the victim on the other - Khan is an immensly talented boxer in my view but you simply do not slag off your country to the world's media and also openly drone on about how good the states is - just state nothing and go rather than getting people to feel sorry for you!!!

well i very much doubt u know him personally but I find that post very disappointing. Like it or lump it Amir Khan (whethr u like Wazza or not!!, and I reckon I know wat most people would say to that)...but Amir himself IS, one of our flagship British boxers and to want to see him sparked is pretty damn foolhardy, as well as low in my opinion Spud. Nothing personally pal, opinions and all that :TU:

Absolutely young man!! - opinions - and mine is I want to see Khan get beat - if he does - will he be so keen on America?

He should listen to his promoter and matchmaker - we all like to slag off Mr W arren - I thoroughly enjoy it on numerous occasions - but in Khan's case - Mr W arren has done a fantastic job and its time on this rare occasion Team Khan take notice of the promoter.

With regards to being low "Mr North East" - I have stated an opinon and yet again after having re-read my posts I find absolutely nothing wrong with what I have stated.

Have a fine evening!!! :TU:

Mr North East :TU: :TU:

Just been to Newcastle v Watford - yet another fine victory - only marred by someone asking me if I was going to the Khan fight - I stated back I would rather my next sh*t be a hedgehog and recommended to the chap he put £10 of his well earnt cash on a Salita stoppage - he stated that Khan was a superstar and there was no way he was getting beat ever again - I simply had to walk away.

ok clever dick but before that he has hardly ever been there if ever, he is English not Pakistani. Everyone in the UK can probably trace there roots back to another country but do u think i give a f*ck that im 1/4 irish 1/4 lithuanian /1/4 Scottish 1/4 English no.....IM f*cking English and thats the end of it!

That is bollocks. No way is Khan anything like "chavvy" - he's a good hard working kid, and I'd say very likeable. He may not have anything like the wit, charm and smarts of a Naz, who does? But he's still a really decent kid, he gets loads of flack in the UK and it's no surprise he'd prefer a few years in the US, why not, it's every fighters dream to headline out there.

i think us senseless, evil, racist brits will buy much more PPV if khan keeps fighting like that.

this is what we want david haye to do to his WBA nuisance, ruiz. salita was chosen and manufactured because he represented certain things to certain ppl, without ever once doing anything to catch our eye, or grab our attention...but that was quality from khan.
