Sure is
Absolutely not.Brute wrote:Hey Ollie! Does an IBO title count if Ricky Hatton holds it?
though i agree the SD against scoobidoo should have been a UD.oliverfennell wrote:Katsidis hands down...tanibanana wrote:Green hands down..Marlin wrote:Going back to the topic at hand... both guys fought three times this year:
Green:
W KO2 Anthony van Niekerk
W KO5 Julio Cesar Dominguez (IBO baby)
W KO1 Roy Jones Jr (IBO baby)
Katsidis:
W UD Angel Hugo Ramirez
W KO8 Jesus Chavez
W SD Vicente Escobedo (Interim WBO)
Green 3 KO's all under 6 rounds, Katsidis 1-SD against Scoobidoo..
Green got 3 KOs but only one meant anything in world terms. Katsidis' results came against much stronger opposition, pound for pound, only Jones was by far a bigger name. I'd also rank Katsidis as more likely to win a genuine world title. Also, the SD against Escobedo should really have been a UD under sane judges.
Are you being a little harsh on Scooby? I didn't hear any of the hype about him so I can't comment on that, what were they saying? He did look to me to have nice boxing skills. I thought he out boxed Katsidis in the early rounds but succumbed to Mike's relentlessness - IMO he needs to develop conditioning and toughness if he wants to be a serious contender. But at the end of the day he went 12 rounds with Katsidis who is an animal and Scooby wasn't seriously hurt at any stage.tanibanana wrote:Escobedo is a hype job, until Katsidis exposed him..
No, not really.. It was just for dramatic effects..keyboard warrior wrote:Are you being a little harsh on Scooby? I wonder how closely Team Marquez were watching that fight?
Better than the two fellas Green fought before Jones.tanibanana wrote:No, not really.. It was just for dramatic effects..keyboard warrior wrote:Are you being a little harsh on Scooby? but what i was trying to point out was, Scooby
is no "strong opposition".. decent is a fair description..
crusader wrote:Chavez and Escobedo are far better than the two no names Green beat, and I would argue at this stage are right up there with Roy Jones. Katsidis completely dominated Escobedo, the fact that one judge was watching a different fight shouldn't be a knock against him when comparing the results. For me Katsidis is the Australian Boxer of the Year.
it looks like I'm being owned here..oliverfennell wrote:Better than the two fellas Green fought before Jones.tanibanana wrote:No, not really..
