[quote="rmz"] He's been fed the same kind of lower-level opposition that Khan was fed for the earlier part of his career. quote]

If anything, Brook's opponents were much worse.

His first 13 bouts were against very typical "Tomato Can British journeymen" and a couple of novices.

Khan at least had fought and beaten 4 or 5 Decent Domestic level fighters in his early bouts.

Can't say I have the same faith in Brook as others seem to, he's certainly looked impressive (at times) against decent domestic operators, but I'm not sold yet.

Still way too early to say, I keep forgetting just how young Brook is because he's been around for so long now. Until he shows something against a better quality of opponent, I'd go with Khan.

ok @mrboxing

Fair enough. I'll withdraw the resistance part but the rest still stands.

Kell got dropped by Karl David and trust me, it really was more of an off-balance thing - he lunged in, missed, got clipped, lost his balance and touched down. Wasn't hurt in the slightest.

I know I'm biased but i genuinely think that Kell would KO Amir with great ease. Don't forget that Khan had absolute life-and-deaths with Willie Limond (light puncher at 9'4) and Micheal Gomez.

Kell is an extremely hard puncher, fast and accurate. His best asset is his jab which i would argue is already world-class (the rest is still obviously a work in progress). He's also elusive and a fantastic judge of range. Khan would be the faster but anyone who thinks them amateurish little flurries and tap-and-run tactics would get him through is wrong, in my humble opinion.

Kell's jab would completely send Amir into his shell and from then it would be simply a matter of time before Kell landed clean and when he does, that'll be lights out. Kell by KO and i'd be surprised if lasted into the second half.

By the way, anyone else notice that when Amir jumped on Salita after the first KD, he was only able to flurry him to the floor. Didn't seem much weight in them shots. Hhmmm ...

I wouldn't call them life or deaths...

what are they? , light welter and welter....well don't see Khan moving up, he's just moved up and looks real comfortable there, and don't see Brook moving down, as he's big.

But who'd win.....providing he didn't try to do it in rounds one or two, I'd say Khan would blow him away. Amir Khan is going to be a superstar. He looks massive at LWW to me, he will only get more powerful than he is already. Brook's not boxed anybody nearly as good so far.

Agreed, at the moment at least. Khan's done a good job of proving people wrong since the loss to Prescott, so I wouldn't write him off. Especially when he has such amazing speed and decent power.

If Khan becomes a fully fledged welterweight and Kell's still there, I'd call it a much more even fight.

Edit: The more I think about it the more I think Khan would win. :o It depends on Brook's punch resistance, determination and 'heart'.

Why doesn't Brook fight an opponent who is at least at European level first. Its easy to look good blowing out domestic competition. He looks talented but I can't say he is the real deal until he beats a real fighter. Elwell doesn't count. Even Jennings is far short of world class and that would be a big step up for him.

i wish to show no disrespect to Barrie Jones whatsoever but I don't recall Barrie throwing a single meaningful shot at him.
I'm sure that it was a tall ask to step up to the Lonsdale plate with so little fights, for which he desrves nothing but credit, but he didn't exactly "go for it"

They've sparred together in their amateur days on an international meet up.

Kell would finish Khan.
