Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
I did say in a couple of fights time I do believe.........
And I've not said that I think he would beat Dawson, just said that he could pick up a couple of rounds and of course you never know in boxing.
I was merley pointing out that Dawson's power doesn't seem to be as good as first thought as most of his last 10 fights, when he's been fighting at world level he's had many points decisions. This also tells me that Cleverly would have time to get his jab going and come in for the odd combo, again before you rip the p@ss out of what I am saying I am not saying he would definetly win and I am saying that he would be better in a couple of fights time.
So Cleverly got dropped by Vegas, a natural heavy hitter against a novice at the time who probably hadn't been hit that hard before and he obviously learnt from that fight and has improved no end.
Oh and before the Ademek fight, who did Dawson beat? The point is boxers have to step up in class at some point, otherwise they are just going to fight has beens and over hyped boxers for the rest of their career.
If he beats this Italian and then defends against some other decent European, why not go for someone like Dawson? After all people are always moaning that too many boxers are over protected and should fight better boxers, as soon as someone mentions a boxer that they could lose to it's oh no! can't possibly do that he will lose, can't have a young boxer ruining their undeafeated record because it didn't do Khan's career any wrong.

Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
Bit of a risk by FW Brancalion is an expierenced decent pro and Cleverly is still very young and has a lot to learn, I do see him winning but it will be by a good way his toughest fight.

It is very hard fight, you normaly have to KO the home Italian to get a Draw.

Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
has anyone seen that camprillo dude , how hes ended up a world chance i dont no, i personally think clev could take him now but 1 or 2 fights down the line definatly, that would provide him with status and acclaim, and a brilliant lerner/bargaining tool to get some of the big americans in the ring a few fights later gotta get a scrap with camprillo after brancaleon, which i see both if cleverly turns up as a mere formality, as niether can punch and there not outboxing him iether
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
I think you may be under-estimating Camprillo, he is not the prettiest of boxers and as you said he has no power but he is effective and awkward. Has a great win against the Argentine brawler Hugo Garay under his belt and he also beat the exciting prospect Shumenov in his hometown. In fact now that I look at his record he has a nack of getting victories away from home-beat Mock in Denmark, Garay in Argentina and Shumenov in Kazakstan. Thats fairly impressive in my opinion. Think it may be a bit early for Cleverly to be taking on this sort of opponent..boltonkings wrote:has anyone seen that camprillo dude , how hes ended up a world chance i dont no, i personally think clev could take him now but 1 or 2 fights down the line definatly, that would provide him with status and acclaim, and a brilliant lerner/bargaining tool to get some of the big americans in the ring a few fights later gotta get a scrap with camprillo after brancaleon, which i see both if cleverly turns up as a mere formality, as niether can punch and there not outboxing him iether

Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
i see what your saying, but clevs quality and has recently added power to his artilary, if he looks impressive against brancalion then i think hes ready cos brancalions tricky but not greatly impressive, if he struggles and lumbers to a close points then maybe not, but its a title clev can easily win when he reaches his potential
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
It's risky going to Italy and if its anyway close on the scorecards at the end it will be in Brancalions favour, Italy is notorious for dodgy scorecards for home fighters. When Cleverly reaches his potential he will be one of the top LHW's in the World but as I posted earlier it's going to be a tough division with the likes of Pascal, Dawson, Cloud, Braehmer all in the mix-4 boxers who are a good bit ahead of Clev. Personally I think if he beats Brancalion, he needs to stay at European Level for a good few fights before even considering moving up to World Level.boltonkings wrote:i see what your saying, but clevs quality and has recently added power to his artilary, if he looks impressive against brancalion then i think hes ready cos brancalions tricky but not greatly impressive, if he struggles and lumbers to a close points then maybe not, but its a title clev can easily win when he reaches his potential
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
An oddly sanction bout by the EBU.
Antonio Brancalion was knocked out in round one of his last fight, for the European title.
Why is he given an immediate chance to fight for it again?

Re: Antonio Brancalion VNathan Cleverly
the fact warrens allowing cleverly to take the fight shows how highly he regards him
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
Or that they consider the Italian to be beatable- which I think is true.
Re: Antonio Brancalion VNathan Cleverly
its probably a bit of both
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
Anyone going to this?
Re: Antonio Brancalion V Nathan Cleverly
