What if Joe Calzaghe had found his passport in about 2001 & headed to a large location called an airport, boarded an aeroplane & headed for a country called The United States of America & set about proving what a damn good fighter he was & beat a path to the door of Roy Jones Jr?

He'd be 49-0 and about to beat Marciano's recordhurlock wrote:wot if hatton of stayed with warren.

What if Herol Graham had managed to duck Julian Jackson's right hand haymaker?
What if Hamed hadn't been booed vs Calvo?
World:
What if Jeff Fenech hadn't been robbed in Nelson I?
What if fan man hadn't interupted?

What if there had been a Hagler v Leonard rematch?
What if Joe Calzaghe had fought some opponents of merit between 1999-2006?

Then the judges would have had to be investigated for incompetence or bribery!BIGMARK wrote:What if Bhop won the SD instead of Calzaghe

Re: Boxings biggest what if's?
With the great power and athleticism Naz had, what if he had actually learned a technically efficient style from a young age?, instead of that psuedo-ali, pull your head straight back from punches and paw slow as treacle jabs Ingle pish. You could be the most talented fighter there has ever been and still fall short of greatnedss using that sloppy garbage as a style.
Re: Boxings biggest what if's?
Laing had lots of talent, but it wasn't just about him going off the rails, there was a lack of discipline in and outside the ring. We should not forget the two huge knockouts by Colin Jones when weighing up Laing. Besides which, the Duran he beat was totally out of shape.

Re: Boxings biggest what if's?
what if? Hearns Leonard had rematched, maybe at 154, within a couple of years of the first one.
a what it thread and noone has mentioned witter-hatton yet? DG is on holiday i presume.
nice one above from arbachakov IMO
what if Salvador Sanchez had lived.... :(
what if Tony Ayala had not been such an idiot, and we'd all have got the chance to see he was a great-in-waiting/ always over-rated anyway.
what if Joe hadn't had such bad hand problems?
in fact similar to arbachakov's post there is a whole welter of questions if joe hadn't been trained by Enzo- if he'd been taught to punch better would he have been injured less and more effective? would he have had better nutrition etc (fridge full of fast food, etc)
umm... i am sure there's more i can't think of ATM

Re: Boxings biggest what if's?
Laing was another massively flawed ali influenced fighter.Stood straight up with his chin dangling out begging to be hit, and solely used a bit of footwork and pulling straight back punches as a defence.Very vulnerable to getting caught and not that durable.gobbles wrote:Laing had lots of talent, but it wasn't just about him going off the rails, there was a lack of discipline in and outside the ring. even if he been a great trainer, i think he would have needed to change that style considerably to have any sustained success at world level.

Don Curry had just moved up to light-middle instead of fighting Honeyghan?
Hearns v Leonard I had been over 12 rounds.
Naseem Hamed hadn't disappeared completely up his own rectum!
British (and personal as he's a mate:-): Takaloo had not gone after Alexander too darn early?

Best thread in ages and I cant think of anything to add at the moment
Re: Boxings biggest what if's?
What if Lewis hadn't fought Oliver McCall the first time. Would we have seen Lewis vs Holyfield/Tyson etc any earlier - would Lewis remained with Correra.
What would have happend had Vitali not got cut.
What would have happend had Eubank not got stopped vs Thompson
What would have happened had Bomber Graham not "rested" on the ropes against Brewer
What would have happened had Spencer Oliver moved up to Feather instead of that final fight at Super Bantam.

Not sure that would work - if they knew it was 12, they would have stepped on the gas earlier.Adamj1987 wrote:what if the limit was always 12 rounds
