That's the "popular" theory...however hear a few more "conspiracy theories" LOL. Only the "middle men" who arranged this bout know the truth and the fighter himself. This according a "fight detective"....AntonS wrote:I was told Faimasasa only agreed to 4 rounds, but when he rolled up to the venue he found out it was a title fight over 12, so when he completed 4 he threw in the towel & cleared offRogue wrote:ABA shows are small scale-- max capacity is 500. 200 is bout usual numbers out of which less than half actually pay the gate. One can pad knuckles all they like, but it ain't going to prevent hand injury.Brute wrote:"Gauze?"dberry wrote:Have had similar wraps approved most often. The knuckles are mainly padding. In my experience the wraps have been scrutenised then passed. Go buy yourself a role of gores and inspect.
Bones supporting knuckles to wrist (including wrist) are most important area.
Most OZ astute hand wrappers whack on 2 x 6 inch tape on back of hand before bandaging to reduce bone movement & to certain extent allow flexibility as to tightness of bandaging, so the guys can still have a good grip when gloved.
Knocking out opponent with 4 half bent fingers ain't easy
Re: NZ Shape re Bandaging
Sorry about the spelling, I think gores is a noxious weed. Padding over the knuckles (we've alweys used gauze) is to try and prevent soft tissue damage, I have known two fighters who have sufferd slit nerve casings in their knuckles, career ending in both cases. I agree with AntonS about taping to aviod hard tissue damage.Brute wrote:"Gauze?"dberry wrote:Have had similar wraps approved most often. The knuckles are mainly padding. None of this is to directly harm the opponent (unlike plaster of paris or other horse shoes), however it does have an indirect effect by allowing one to confidently pounch at full wack.
