Unfortunately, that's the story of "Face's" life. I really like him as a person and I wish him well in his pro career. However, I am holding my breath when it comes to his performing successfully.2004 Olympian Ron Siler finally making his debut this Saturday. He seems like he has been in and out of jail the last couple of years.
Top amateurs turning pro in 2012 (2010 & 2011 too)

I just read this on the current scene:
World Champiosnhip silver medallist Frankie Gomez has signed pro forms with Golden Boy and debuts on 3 April on the RJJ-B-Hop card.
People wonder why USA dosen't win medals at the Olympics anymore and this is why.

Arghhh! We tried to talk him out of this when he came to the SoCal district tournament. Guess he didn't listen. That is such a drag! :(World Champiosnhip silver medallist Frankie Gomez has signed pro forms with Golden Boy and debuts on 3 April on the RJJ-B-Hop card.

McWilliams Arroyo fighting now. Pro debut vs. Elecier Sanchez (his debut too). Weighed in at 113lbs.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
We all know Frankie Gomez is turning pro as well and also I was told recently that Jamal James also is turning pro.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
Randy Caballero is turning pro on March 25th at the Commerce Casino in SoCal. I really believe that if he hadn't had so many problems with his hand injury, he would have been on track for major amateur international events. Oh well.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
Under the radar -- Kurtiss Colvin made his pro debut with a first-round stoppage victory Saturday night in Austin, Texas.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
Jamal James will make his pro debut in Hinckley, Minnesota on April 2nd.
whose left at 141 pounds????

Zeddie Adams is left at 141. I hope he stays amateur and tries for the 2012 Olympics.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
Julian williams turned pro, and is now signed with golden boy, he's making his pro debut march 11th on the bernard hopkins vs roy jones under card
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
I bet B-Hop had something to do with the signing of Julian Williams by Golden Boy.
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
From personal experience most of these young guys dont just turn pro because of money, I speak wtih most of these guys all the time like Jamel James and they mostly HATE the scoring system and feel like they're being cheated in many bouts at tournaments... I keep track with alot of guys I've talked to or fought at tournaments and the 141 weight class alone lost alot of guys and thats mainly due to scoring and favoritism in certain states and what I mean by that is the last 2 National PAL tournaments alot of guys felt that Texas and California fighters were favored more, me personally I try to ignore that type of stuff and just try to beat my opponents where theres no doubt who won or lost lol
Re: Top amateurs turning pro in 2010
Since California and Texas officials didn't judge California and Texas boxers - where is the favoritism coming from?that is the last 2 National PAL tournaments alot of guys felt that Texas and California fighters were favored more,

i boxed the crap out of some kid from texas in the semis and only won by 2 points. there was def some favoritism this year. but i guess thats to be expected. The kid i fought had a good cheering section so maybe that influenced the judges, or maybe they just wanted to ensure a little more ticket revenue. idk?

And you know this for a fact? Because? It's really mainly a "not."crowds believe it or not may SOMETIMES influence judges...

Are you saying that it doesnt happen?boxmel wrote:where is the favoritism coming from?
I agree with you because alot of fighters dislike the scoring. You can hit your opponent with a landing unaffective shot to the head, and then hit him with a body shot that was thrown harder and affected him more and you wont get credit for it. Sherard and Benivedez's father basically sad it themselves to the media that they dislike the scoring. Many other fighters I know choose not to stick around for the olympics because they work so hard and feel like they will end up wasting 4 more years in the amateurs and its a possibility that they wont make the team even though they would actually be better on the team than the guys who actually make it. Top ranked guys like Graziano , Brad Solomon, Benivedez, Gomez, and H. Williams just to name a few off the top dont usually stick around because they feel that waiting will not benifit them. Even the media is starting to point out the scroring and politics that we go through. In the end its all about the FIGHTERJamel wrote:..most of these young guys dont just turn pro because of money, I speak wtih most of these guys all the time like Jamel James and they mostly HATE the scoring system and feel like they're being cheated in many bouts at tournaments
