Re: Hatton only 12st 10
12st 10 - 13st is about right there is no way he weighs 14-15 stone.

how often do you see him between fights?U.F.O wrote:12st 10 - 13st is about right there is no way he weighs 14-15 stone.
Re: Hatton only 12st 10
Whatever the weight is, for me the issue is the crap he came out with on FNF. He was saying the weight is nothing, that people have been saying it for years but he always shifts it and that it doesnt affect him.
He is very delusional and it is physically impossible to do what he does to his body without it causing damage. Impossible.
The proof is in the eating and since beating KT he has had had longer stretches out of the ring. Early career between one and two months on average. After being WBU champ it was just 2 or 3 months out of the ring with a couple four month stretches and so he was not getting out of shape too bad.
Then he signed to fight Kostya and is out of the ring for huge stretches, gets hugely out of shape and since that night has not appeared to have quite the same reflexes or engine.
You go work it out dickhead lol

Ricky's attitude will never change on the weight issue. His feelings are that he shifts the weight & he makes 140lbs every time he's required to. However, you do not see guys like Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather, etc, getting so out of condition in between fights.
I do not care how good you are at losing weight, whether you make your fighting weight each & every time, going up & down in weight so much has to effect that particular person. IMO, Hatton's punch resistance has suffered becausde of it.
I've tried to imagine what he must put himself through the first two, three or four weeks of training just getting his weight down, but I cannot. I do not know how he goes through the grind when he's some 42lbs or more over weight?
This is another reason why a fighter/trainer relationship with Floyd Snr was never really going to be a long one. Can you imagine what Floyd Snr would say to Hatton if he turned up for camp some 42lbs or more over weight & such out of condition?

I would imagine that, if you have that much excess on you, during training camp, the body's energy stores/proteins etc etc, that should be used to repair and build muscle tissues, etc, is wasted instead on breaking down bodyfats instead.
I say this as someone with a degree in cod-science.

actually i always wondered, with Kayes' background, how useful he was in pure strength & conditioning terms, IE like you say was he actually training hatton to do anything useful other than cutting weight?

I'd go with, firstly sports-specific stuff/ plyometrics, then Olympic, and some powerlifting....MachoMan09 wrote:I don't think a high-rep, bodybuilding programme where you train to failure is suitable for a boxer. But hey, that's just my opinion. I believe that fighters would be better off looking at powerlifting/olympic lifting methodology.Counter-puncher wrote:actually i always wondered, with Kayes' background, how useful he was in pure strength & conditioning terms, IE like you say was he actually training hatton to do anything useful other than cutting weight?
i don't mean to cast aspersions on Kayes ability as a trainer, and i don't know exactly what his programmes entail, but i do just have this picture of him getting hatton to do multiple sets of bench and legpress, etc and every picture i've seen of hatton doing his S&C work was along those lines.

Re: Hatton only 12st 10
wtf would he do then? like, legpresses/extensions for quads? i mean tell me at least he was doing multi-joint compaund type exercises? cheers for the info anyways.MachoMan09 wrote: Bereft of squats, heavy deads, bent over rows, clean and jerks and pretty much all other movements you would associate with gaining strength.
Typical split: Mon (quads), Tue (chest), Wed (rest), Thur (back), Fri (shoulders).
am i right to assume there was little-no sport-specific resistance training in Kayes' programme? or would that be taken care of with medicine ball workouts separate to Kayes' regime? just curious like...
