I reckon he'd be absolutely right to criticise Danny's effort to capitalise on his ethnicity. He sets himself up as the larrikin aussie, in opposition to Mundine, who is not a 'real aussie' in Green's eyes.
It's absolutely cynical and offensive for Green to pretend to start caring about indigenous youth just because he wants to make 4 million dollars, and he can't find anyone else interested in fighting him.
As if Mundine would want to set up a foundation in partnership with him! It's a shithouse offer.
Mundine ought to turn him down, after all Green totally wrote him off, called him a pissant, not worth bothering with, now he's coming back with this, after realising the rest of the world doesn't care about him.
If Mundine doesn't take this, and then keeps on fighting weak nobodies at middleweight, then he's lame. If he takes it at cruiser, I think he'll probably lose. At another weight...maybe he'll win again. But ideally, he should tell Green to shut up, to never try to capitalise on indigenous issues again, and then head overseas and fight Sturm or Pavlik.
I think this would be even more hilarious if his RJJ decision is overturned in the next few days. Apparently a hearing is taking place about now (

it took all of 25 posts, but finally a decent post. Green is an awful, awful human being and boxer. This is one of the worst offers in boxing history. If Green cares so much about the indigenous why doesn't he just donate 10% of his total earnings to them??
What has Mundine got left to prove to Green? Green continues to use the weight excuse for his loss but he fought at SMW his entire career prior to his disgraceful showing in 2006 against Mundine. Why wasn't it an excuse before hand?
Can't he get a fight in the US or something? last I heard he wasnt interested in fighting Mundine since he beat Jones Jr

wow, so not only mundine himself but also his fans have that "under achieveing, self defeating" kind of mentality?
you know as well as i do and every australian fan that mundine wont go overseas to fight pavlik or sturm in their own backyards. you just want your brother to continue to fight cans?

What do you think the likelihood is of Jones' whine succeeding? Green's hands were wrapped in the presence of the sanctioning body's officials who then initialled the wraps.

No idea.
I wouldn't be surprised either way.
The protest letter makes a pretty clear case demonstrating that the wraps were illegal (
http://www.fightnews.com/?p=33792 ).
I thought the whinge was pretty lame when it first came out, but after reading the letter, it's appears entirely legit.
And yes. Awful human being sums it up pretty nicely. Doing everything he can to capitalise on, and reinforce a divide between white Australia and the rest of Australia.

It's slightly cynical of Green to play the indigenous card to get Mundine into the ring, but at the end of the day the youth foundation in question gets a bag of cash. Can't be a bad thing, dunno about reinforcing a racial divide.
Honestly, it may be the only way we are going to see Mundine fight a decent opponent. (Although, at this stage, I don't believe Mundine will take the fight.)

I am a huge Green fan but even I find this attenpt to capitalise on the race thing as disgraceful. Green is just chasing a $$$$ now that he could handle negotiations with B-Hop and Tarver. He got to full of himself and tried to be the man at the negotiating table and now he has realised blokes like BHop and Tarver don't need him so he chases mundine. He never shoud have engaged Shaw to be his US advisor

So Green suggesting that 10% of the purse goes to charity is a BAD thing? Bloody hell, what's wrong with you?

Yes, if it was soo important to him he should be using it to bait mundine, he should just give 10% of his purse without saying a word about it.

But it's good for promotion and raises awareness for the charity! It makes
sense.

Yes 10% of the purse (correct me if I'm wrong, $800 000) to charity. You monster Danny Green, You should be tried at Geneva. What would make you jokers happy? I know, how 'bout Green takes the huge offer to Mundines favoured charity off the table and instead offers to raze a couple off small communities, yes that should do it.

The youth foundation in question doesn't even exist yet. He's proposing that a new foundation be set up in partnership between himself and Mundine. So it's not just a matter of capitalising on the indigenous youth thing once...but only doing it in a manner where he'll have his name on a foundation, and he will be able to capitalise on it forever.
It'd be much less lame if he were to make the offer of 10% going to an indigenous charity of Choc's choice. Green has absolutely no idea of the issues facing indigenous youth, but is certain that he's qualified to establish a foundation to address theme.
It's pretty simplistic to just call it 'charity' and think of it as an absolute good. It's pertinent to mention that the 'charity' were a pretty major player in the stolen generation. What's the money doing specifically other than going to 'charity'? Absolutely nothing. No plans, just talk in order to get people to think he's a good guy, and to get people to think Choc's a bad guy if he doesn't take it.

It is not to Mundine's favoured charity. It is to a hypothetical charity that doesn't exist yet. That would have Green's name attached to it forever.

Obviopusly a few people are upset by my comments.
I am a Green fan but I think he has messed up deals with US fighters so now he needs Mundine. Which is fine, but I just don't agree with the way he has gone about it. Just my personal opinion. I think it is a great idea that 10% go to the fund but I don't think Green should have announced it publicly just to try make mundine look bad if he doesn't accept.

Now I get get it... Danny Green is trying to steal kids!!!
Just like when he saved that drowning surfer, he didn't do it because he's a good guy and someone's life was in danger, he did it for some ulterior motive!!!

Nah, I don't think anyone is upset by your comments.
You should be used to the back and forth media action between boxers. Either ignore it or enjoy it, imo.

Do you think Green came up with the idea when he was at home thinking to himself "How can I help the indigenous youth of Australia" or do you think it was when he was thinking to himself "I need a big fight, I need a way to back mundine into a corner so he has to take a fight with me".
Regardless of your response I am sure we both know which is more accurate,.

Giving money, aid or services to under priviliged people
is, by definition, charity. Perhaps you might pull out a dictionary before you go making such rash statements.

Of course we do but that doesn't make it is horrible thing to do.
Do you think benefit concerts and the like are simply there because someone was sitting around thinking they want to help. Big bands like U2 have plenty of money, they could just donate without bringing attenion to it but that's not they way it works.
When U2 plays a benefit concert are they "increasing racial divide"?

Who cares, offering $800 000 to under privelaged indiginous children and a big fight to the Aussie fan is a good thing right, or have I woken up in Bizzaro World?
