The worst, I'd imagine, are when there are two groups of rival fans , both pissed up.

Given the lack of decent matchmaking at the moment, that doesn't happen much.

I think Ritchie Woodhall said of Christie V Kaylor- is Chritie had won, there would have been a riot!

And think back to the feeling expressed towards Hagler when he beat Minter.

I tend to agree- if boxing was cheap- £10 or so , then no worries- I'd take a chance, and walk out if it got spoiled. But for £30, £50, £100 tickets etc I can't risk losing that much money on an event that is ruined by dullards.

I've been going to the theatre a lot recently (not 100% my choice) but it's only been £7, £10 etc- same with wrestling- £7, £12 etc and less for the children.

Even if it's poor, then "so what" , no big deal. Usually it's good fun.

Khan and Barrera was the worst I've seen for trouble. And I'm pretty sure it's a race thing, as it was mostly whites going for Asians where I was sitting...

Ive been to a few Khan fights,and "the Asians" arent innocent bystanders by any means.

They're as bad as each other, effing pudenda the lot of them.

Khan fights tend to attract illiterates who say "innit" a lot.

For light hearted entertainment, wrestling can't be beat. The pre-planned, matches are still significantly less predicatable than 95% of boxing matches. (True.)

As for theatre, well, it contains a surprising ammount of nudity!

Yep. Was at the Khan-Barrera fight and there was a pretty bad atmosphere.

What irritates me is the "oh it's the football crowd again" when it isn't really is it, it's just the British mentality again, can't do anything or go anywhere without wrecking or abusing something/someone. You get them at football matches yes, usually stand there shouting abuse at the players, referee, opposition fans but actually know fornicate all about the game they're at, not exactly real fans are they? Seems like boxing venues are their evening haunts.

Frankly, I wonder where they get their money from! £50 for a ticket to an event they don't bother to watch most of?

I know there has been bits of trouble recently but when you consider the "elements" that are often at boxing, each boxers "boisterious" fans (some of which could have rivalries from other boxers area etc), local gangsters/hardmen, football hooligans who've attached themselves to a boxer etc I dont think its too bad, we dont have to worry too much imo, yes there are sporadic incidents of violence but mostly they can be avoided if your just there for the boxing.

Actually there is quite a lot wrong with people starting trouble at boxing events because it usually results in some completely innocent punter getting clobbered by some dickhead who's had too much to drink.

I think trouble used to be much worse. These days there is large amount of small incidents, which often seem to flare up during long gaps in the boxing, but I haven't seen a big riot since Harrison v Ellis, which was started by Harrison's own security.

There always used to be trouble at Tony Sibson fights, I remember trouble at Sibson v Lucas and tear gas was used at Sibson v Tate. McCracken v Foster was particularly bad. McCracken v Till was a nasty one, while there was tons of trouble at Wembley Stadium for Bruno v Witherspoon.

I've been to scores and scores of boxing bills and there hasn't been much bother. You're pretty much guaranteed some idiots kicking off at a Khan fight, mind.

Actually, I've been to two shows when riots stopped the whole bill (Rotherham and Darlington). Maybe I'm just so used to it I don't really notice it anymore. Tony Moran's fans tried to storm the ring when Hobson sparked him, I remember.

Boxing is violent so your bound to get violent people attending.

The trouble we have seen recently is nothing to compared to the likes of McCracken v Foster and the amateur show involving McCreesh.
