Boxing news thought Lawton could win.
Possibly under-estimating the Armenian?stujones wrote:Lots didn't read the thread discussing this fight (when it was made). Many gave Lawton a chance.whicker wrote:Lawton comes out, shaking, well sparked, and ref calls it off.
Shocking matchmaking, dangerously mis-matched, and a weak main event.
Sorry, but not a good advert for boxing.
No disrespect to Lawton, but poor guy- he was out of his depth. And looking at his record, we KNEW that.
Sad for Scott nice lad Hope he stays in boxing as a trainer or promoter He should never have been in there to be fairbfchunk wrote:Lawton has no business fighting at that level. That was uncomfortable viewing.
Not what you were saying when the fight was announcedwhicker wrote:Lawton comes out, shaking, well sparked, and ref calls it off.

Who cares he got beat and badly.jonp wrote:He was stopped on his fight there wasnt even a count how could it be a ko??yogi wrote:That is the official phrase they use, a KO where the ref doesn't count to 10.whicker wrote:Given as a "technical count out?"
Surely a knockout? Or at least, a TKO?
He mudered Carl Johansson twice Carl gave Mitchell a very hard fight. What made people think Lawton would win?whicker wrote:stujones wrote:Not what you were saying when the fight was announcedwhicker wrote:Lawton comes out, shaking, well sparked, and ref calls it off.

Fair point- but as I say, underestimating the Armenian.
Looking at the Armenians record, his last 5 fights were against very limited opposition. Also, add that the fight was made at all - careful match makers usually know when a "high profile" opponent is "beatable" or "on the slide" - both suggested that he might not be nearly as good as he once was. (Plus his age, for the weight.)leforge wrote:He mudered Carl Johansson twice Carl gave Mitchell a very hard fight. Yeah- well matched opponent for Edwards.leforge wrote:The African fighting Edwards is good this is the sort of African we should see.
If this was main event we have all moaned but its a better match than the Lawton fight.whicker wrote:Yeah- well matched opponent for Edwards.leforge wrote:The African fighting Edwards is good this is the sort of African we should see.
It's an excellent quality support bout- shame it wasn't live, as a warm up it would have been ace.leforge wrote:If this was main event we have all moaned but its a better match than the Lawton fight.whicker wrote:Yeah- well matched opponent for Edwards.leforge wrote:The African fighting Edwards is good this is the sort of African we should see.
Yes indeed. I like to Sexton v Edwards next before the winner fight Bayaar!whicker wrote:It's an excellent quality support bout- shame it wasn't live, as a warm up it would have been ace.leforge wrote:If this was main event we have all moaned but its a better match than the Lawton fight.whicker wrote: Yeah- well matched opponent for Edwards.
Should be main one!whicker wrote:It's a cracking fight.
thats cool- i only saw one- and I do think you made a good point. It IS tempting to be "wise after the event" (by me, I mean.)stujones wrote:
Whicker - sorry for all my posts about the predictions of the Lawton fight..... Had internet problems and I didn't think the first two had sent, didn't mean to repeat myself.
Good fight they both threw over a 1000 punches !whicker wrote:Shindjuu could have been given that- close fight. The rounds he DID win, he won more clearly than the rounds Edwards won (if that makes sense?)
IE- looks like Edwards won several close rounds, where Shindjuu dominated the ones he won.
Hope to see Shindjuu here again.
hope to see them show some respect to the title by including non-British referees (yeah, I know the ££££ is an issue.)
And I taught there was seeding's for prizefighter. I guess not because Sinclair and Pryce would have been kept apart if there were seedings.whicker wrote:Rhodes and Nelson drawning prize fighter now:
