Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Boxing News reporting it's Sprott as long as he gets past some bum on the Vitali-Chambers undercard on Saturday.
The first fight was a very exciting three rounds and everyone loved seeing that Sprott punch flooring Audley. Hopefully we will see some good bullshit from both men ahead of the fight and a good scrap.

Sprott is better than Vidoz, but it is still a very poor fight for the European title.iwz678 wrote:Boxing News reporting it's Sprott as long as he gets past some bum on the Vitali-Chambers undercard on Saturday.

Do any good Heavyweights want to fight for the European title?

It is m8 considering we get much better European title fights in other divisions but it's the state of European heavies at the moment.Horse wrote:Sprott is better than Vidoz, but it is still a very poor fight for the European title.iwz678 wrote:Boxing News reporting it's Sprott as long as he gets past some bum on the Vitali-Chambers undercard on Saturday.

We get one decent holder of the title and he's move dup quickly to world title level, people are getting bored of all these American challengers.
There are good heavies in Germany who have come from all over Europe (Pulev, Ustinov, Povetkin etc) and as someone said in reply to me suggesting Ustinov, they are being wrapped in cotton wool and they feel a fight against Audley is dangerous and especially at a few weeks notice. Sprott has no great record to defend and he's done this countless times before, he doesnt fear Harrison and he will have give it a go, that's the type of bloke he is.

Some of them are wrapped in cotton wool but there are a few that are breaking the mould, namely Pulev and Robert Helenius.iwz678 wrote:It is m8 considering we get much better European title fights in other divisions but it's the state of European heavies at the moment.Horse wrote:Sprott is better than Vidoz, but it is still a very poor fight for the European title.iwz678 wrote:Boxing News reporting it's Sprott as long as he gets past some bum on the Vitali-Chambers undercard on Saturday.

Sprott has lost to Vidoz (clearly). Vidoz has only lost to European champions since (until his last fight) and won 6 times. Sprott has only won 4 times since the Vidoz fight..... so I don't see it as better.Horse wrote:Sprott is better than Vidoz, but it is still a very poor fight for the European title.iwz678 wrote:Boxing News reporting it's Sprott as long as he gets past some bum on the Vitali-Chambers undercard on Saturday.

Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
That fight was in 2005 and Sprott has beaten better fighters than Vidoz has in that time. Sprott is currently ranked 71st by BoxRec, Vidoz is ranked 166th.stujones wrote:Sprott has lost to Vidoz (clearly). Vidoz has been involved in the last 8 European title fights and has lost in the last 5 of those. Vidoz being involved in a 9th European title fight in a row would be an utter farce and it would bring the EBU into disrepute.
Vidoz has had enough failed European title shots in recent years, he doesn't deserve any more.
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
I aint saying your wrong. I would put them on a par.... Sprott hasn't fought in a year and hasn't won in nearly 2 years. How exactly is that sanctionable form? At least Vidoz had a win in 2009.
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
If Sprott wins his next fight, against Werner Kreiskott, then he will have a win in 2010.stujones wrote:I aint saying your wrong. I would put them on a par.... Sprott hasn't fought in a year and hasn't won in nearly 2 years. How exactly is that sanctionable form? At least Vidoz had a win in 2009.

Vidoz is an Olympic Medalist. Vidoz has beaten Sprott. He is the face of the EBU title.
Either guy is fine with me. Audley has some revenge to get against Sprott though. Both of em can beat Audley or get destroyed by Audley. I'll be interested no matter who AForce fights. I just hope that he looks impressive and can work his way into a match with Haye or 1 of the Klitschko's. He at least has a name that will generate interest for a title fight. Heck, if the sun shines on him that day he may even pull something miraculous out of his arse!
Where is the Boxrec Audley at? He should have something to say about this.

Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Why don't they get Helanius or Pulev in there and make a proper fight out of it?
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Pulev isn't ranked at the moment. Helenius would be good, but I think Hearn wants Harrison to win.willardx wrote:Why don't they get Helanius or Pulev in there and make a proper fight out of it?

Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Hearn said they would start at Dimitrenko (presumably the highest ranking guy who would consider the fight) and offer the fight to the next ranked guy down (ranked by the EBU that is.)willardx wrote:Why don't they get Helanius or Pulev in there and make a proper fight out of it?
Helenius rightly or wrongly is ranked below Sprott. So presumably Sprott has accepted the fight before Helenius got the offer.
In my opinion the EBU has a flaw in the way it sets his rankings certainly at Heavyweight, Sprott is rated 9th presumably because he spent a decent reign as their EU champ. Skelton on the other hand is not in the ratings at all, spent a short while as the bonafide EBU champ, and has since gone on a similar losing run to Sprott.
The sport we support we can't seem to understand.

Who here has SEEN Sprott-Vidoz?
I thought Sprott was jobbed. Virchis too. Sprott dominated Taras Bidenko and got ripped off again. Sprott deserves to be in any European title picture because he keeps fighting the best European fighters and most of the time gets a raping for the German judges, who were doing it as far back as his rematch with Timo Hoffman (another fight he won in Germany and didn't get the decision)
Sprott isn't shot to pieces like Danny Williams & will come to play - if Audley takes him out it'll look good winning the title & having avenged that loss.
'A' Klitschko versus Harrison in 2010 is becoming a genuine possibility! Come on A-Force!

Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Why can't you understand it James? Skelton got knocked out by a novice in his last fight whereas Vidoz was outpointed at a Euro title level & Sprott holds his own versus the top euro fighters. Makes sense to me that Skelton wouldn't be ranked given he was stopped three times in a row and is 43, as opposed to Sprott who loses dodgy decisions.jameswilson wrote: In my opinion the EBU has a flaw in the way it sets his rankings certainly at Heavyweight, Sprott is rated 9th presumably because he spent a decent reign as their EU champ. If it is Sprott, Audley will be so gunshy it will become a 12 round snorefest.
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
Danny decided to pull out. So it looks like it's going to be Sprott.

Skelton has lost what? his last 3 and before that was undefeated bar Chagaev and was the European champ. It suprises me he isn't ranked when guys like Williams and Sprott are when their recent form is not that much better.overhand_right wrote:Why can't you understand it James? Vidoz, Bonin, Platov. Is Skelton much less deserving than those guys?
Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
I know what you mean... I'd give the bear more chance of beating Audley than Sprott doing it again. Skelton would be 'on him' and put him under pressure. In all honesty Sprott was looking well on his way out of the first fight (including being knocked down in the first) before he connected in the third. I think part of the reason it was such a shock is because he looked out of the fight. I can't remember what notice he had for that one? There is always the chance of the ko again but I just think Matt brings more to the table for this particular opponent, even now.jameswilson wrote:Skelton has lost what? his last 3 and before that was undefeated bar Chagaev and was the European champ. Have you boys lost your minds? Look, watch Matt Skelton's last fight, being blown out by a 4 fight novice last month and tell me he would be 'on' Audley or test him or anyone for that matter.
The man is DONE.

Re: Williams and Sprott in the frame for Audley
I didn't say he would beat Audley. I'm saying Sprott should not be ranked 9th. Sprott hasn't won a fight since 2008 (that will change tonight I know,) and that was against Zack Page, you shouldn't be rated well just because you manage not to get stopped.overhand_right wrote:Have you boys lost your minds? Pulev's a good fighter, and I think it's a different fight against Audley. Again, I'm not saying he is certain to win, but I do think he has a greater chance than Sprott.overhand_right wrote:Have you boys lost your minds?
