As El Raincoat said once Appelby gets some more wins and confidence he will be back. He is a very good fighter

Appleby started off his career really well then seemed to be thrown to the dogs. Lindsay was a toughie and away from home, i was still surprised that he was stopped. He hasn't fought since which is nearly a year ago now. It was mentioned that he was going to Kiev t fight Yemifovich for the European title late last year. Thankfully that didn't happen, it was scandoulous that the guy was going to be thrown into a hard fight like that on the back of a stoppage loss, talk about trying to ruining a guys career. Now he's with Warren he should be able to rebuild and i'd expect him to get some sort of title fight maybe Commonwealth title at home later this year. Maybe a rematch with Simpson.

Ye that win was very underestimated, he fought a very clever fight and did very well in that one.

Yes I agree with the comments, id love a tougher test beforehand...but if I get offered the chance with either there is no way i'd knock it back! And I do believe that Martin Lindsay is a good fighter, plenty of skills but is not the same fighter when the chips are down. When he isnt getting things his own way he is so different. No disrespect to Jamie Arthur, showed so much courage....BUT...where was his defence? Completely none existant. Good win for Lindsay still.

Would you ever fight Choi Tseveenpurev? the guy is the most avoided featherweight in europe. I have not seen one featherweight in the 3 years i have been on boxrec even dare to mention his name.

I'd fight whoever Dean and Frank asked me to fight to be honest mate, im not one to shy away. I have never really seen Choi except for his fight with Derry, but he has done nothing since, severly avoided as u say. Have to wonder would he be the same fighter now, he isnt getting any younger. Id like to see him back though either way.

Beating mathews was the worst thing that happend to choi, he hasnt been able to get a fight since. Even at 39 he still has a lot to offer and if he could get fights would still rule the british featherweight division with a iron fist, he never started boxing til he was 23, and never turned pro til he was 26 so he could be like a nate campbell, bernard hopkins or archie moore who were all fighters who were still going strong well into there late 30's and early 40's

I think Stehen Smith would beat Choi & Lindsay now.. I think Swift is being avoided to be honest!! He'll come good though as the kid has a scary drive and determination to him that can be matched by very few, Has all the skills and the power to go with it too!!
I think by the end of this year were gonna be talking about 3 fighters in this country.. That'll be Frankie Gavin who'll dominate and do it on the world stage too!! Stephen Smith who will when given the chance clean out everyone on the domestic front and last but not least Scott Quigg who I rate so very highly!! I don't think there is a super bantam who could live with that kid!! Don't know him as well as the other 2 but from what I have seen and heard he's a very special one and one to watch out for..

yet again you make silly comments, last week it was you dont rate mathew macklin, and you think he is bluffing his nose injury, now you think smith who has not even really faced a live fighter beats choi, you talk so much crap, i think that the commenwealth needs to sort out there rating's cos in the words of colin hart that last lad you knocked out didnt look no bigger than a middleweight and looked like a novice who had had no more than 4 fights! o sorrie just checked boxrec he did only have 4 fights it was a shambles, allegedly has got some bad fighters over in his time to fight for the commenwealth title but he outdone self with that last one

Quigg is a fantastic fighter from what i've seen, can't see anyone posing much of a threat to him on the domestic stage or european stage.
Regarding Choi; Matthews had some success when he tried to box, but obviously the power of the Mongolian shone through. I remember crying out for Derry to keep to the boxing and to keep his distance because Choi could be boxed around.
Which leads me to ask Swifty, how have you faired sparring with Matthews in the past? I think i've read Derry himself say you've gave him a spanking in the gym.
I truly believe you could dance around Choi all night.

choi is quite predictable also from what i have seen of him. i think if swifty can box him at range, he would see choi's every move before he makes it. if swifty boxes him close and tries to outpunch him, this would be fighting to chois strengths...
chois strengths are hooks and bodyshots, as far as i can tell, only really effective within a certain range.
choi = a smart boxers meal ticket!!!
my final thoughts... i think ste would be more suited to lindsay at this moment in time. pressure, speed and movement!!!

Like I said, ive only ever watched the man once, against Derry. If the fight were to happen, then im sure I would watch and get to see much more beforehand and would work out a gameplan myself....but from the Derry fight, I know to stand and fight would be silly. I will say it again though, a 39 year old Featherweight is a lot different in my eyes to a Bernard Hopkins....just my opinion but id like to see what he has left. As for Derry, learned loads from Derry and cant thank him enough for all the rounds. Derry has moved on now and is coaching and doing well for himself, all the best to him, he's a true mate, always will be. I have never came on line disrespecting people and calling out names, but now I know - 10 fights in that im near enough to title level to talk about these champions with regards to fighting them both in the near future. When the fights happen, ill be very confident.

swifty you are not a big mouth, unlike some other fighters on here who think by beating the worst fighter i have ever!!!!!!!!!!! seen to fight for a belt and that includes the british masters title that they are here now, as tony bellew likes to say. Also choi still has time lightweight nate campbell is also 39 and still going strong

As for Bellew, I trained along side him for years at the Rotunda ABC and we are good friends. He speaks his mind and is sometimes taken the wrong way. He is very confident in himself and rightly so....he has so much ability and hits very very hard. He has smashed everything put in front of him and is doing his job. People knocking his opponent have been harsh as it isnt his fault. He can only beat whats put in front of him. I know Dean and Frank do struggle getting him fights.....again, not his own fault

Bellew is one of the nicest lads I know, heart of gold.
If you don't know him and how to take him then I can see why some people would think he is cocky, over the top etc. But truth is he is not. He is genuine, can really fight and takes every fight like it's for the undisputed world titles.
When fights get longer and opponents agree to fight him you'll see the best of him.

I only think he appears cocky to the casual boxing fans. The people in and around boxing who actually know him, and the people who share the forums with Bomber, know how polite and sound he is.
Anyone on these forums who has a bad word, is clearly a bitter tool.

After Choi fought Matthews I was expecting him to go past the British scene, its a real shame, he had troubles with visa's and inactivity

especially if you wanna make money. like they say ''all publicity is good publicity''.
like when cassius clay called out sonny liston... everyone wanted to see him lose but they still paid to see it. he didnt sit around and wait to be recognised, he made a lot of noise and put himself out there

scott quigg is a very nice lad, an doin very well 4 himself in the pro game as i no he only had a few amature fights(10 or 11). but if people r talkin about him as a featherweight, hes not in stephens league. he,s a good, strong super-bantam. an wen the time comes, stephen will win domestic titles an go further on, alot further, hes a very strong feather!!
