Colin is on the slide and dsnt have a good Southern Area history (Sprott !)

but credit for Larry's camp for taking on a proper British opponent at this stage. the foreign imports are a joke and counter productive.

look at the fights available:
Danny Hughes
Dave Ferguson
Paul Butlin
Carl Baker
Coleman Barrett
Rob Beech
Ali adams
Dave Howe
Scott Mitchell
Richard Towers (richard has fought almost exclusively british opps..watch him reap the benefits)

anyway Good luck Larry :box:

Good way to respond to criticism. As Mr Bessey is an ex-pro HW himself, I'm sure he means no harm - and I'm sure you know that too. The best thing any boxer can do is let your fists do the talking if someone questions your ability.
yup. nice and relaexed Larry, don't tighten up and let the punches flow :TU:

should be a good HW scrap, maybe a big step up in class if you win against Skelton?

good reply larry i like your attitude but i just think if you take your power away your very raw and will struggle especially in the later rounds against a seasoned fighter and i feel this could be 2-3 fights too early but whatever the result it will be a good learning experience for you and fair play to you and mr maloney for taking it
Get off his back? That's a ridiculous comment "if you take away your power" Tell me, how do you do that to a fighter? In your opinion?

Everyone can see he is a novice and a bit raw, but that is due to no amateur career.
He is learning and hopefully will do well.
Encouragement is what he needs not an expert opinion just to bring him down.

PS. Good luck Larry. Just relax and do as your corner say mate.

Well in Smigga lad, if the fight was there for Larry then taking the fight was a great option. Even if he loses which I believe he wont, he will learn a hell of a lot from the fight, a lot more than he would against some poor Eastern European opposition.

Great chance for you Larry, hopefully you will grasp it with both hands.

smigga this is a boxing forum where people are meant to give there HONEST boxing views and in my honest opinion larry is very raw and what i meant about hes power was not take it away cos obviously that cant be done but if you can handle hes power and you have a bit of a boxing brain on you then hes gonna struggle. just because he posts on here im not gonna crawl up hes arse like most do(not only to him but to just about every boxer that posts on here) and im not going to mention no names cos i was far from good myself but i think fookin ell lads is that the same fighter as i saw. yes every boxer deserves respect for climbing through the ropes but tell it how it is everyone on here can polish a turd as much as they like but at the end of the day its still a turd(that wasnt meant about larry at all) people on here wanna stop looking through rose tinted glasses cos the boxer posts on here and say it how it is and to the other lad that said good on ya smigga did i not say good on you and win or lose it will be a good learning fight for him? i know colin so obviously i dont want larry to win but if he does fair play to him i have a lot of respect for larry he started late and he is a boxer that has to work really hard for whatever he gets and he seems more than willing to do this but as i have already said i say what i think
I think thats fair enough Billy - you were always honest about yourself and your career so fair play! :TU:

Larry O always strikes me as genuine and honest. Kenna is a big step up mind and Kenna is a 10 round fighter but the big man has plenty of time to rev his engine for the distance and will be the fight to see if he can make that step up - I think Larry will do it on points. Kenna is tough and will hang in there to last the distance. Nice fight for the southern area title though.

Larry gets the kudos for taking on a british based boxer who we all know about.

Both Larry and Tom Dallas should be on the next Prizefighter...There is no excuse.

I hate the way people use this phrase. No boxer expects people to "crawl up their arse" just because they post on here. You should know.
I guarantee you a hell of a lot more boxers read this forum than post on it. Some post because they don't mind the stick that they know they will receive no matter what, along with the praise.
As you said in your second post, Larry started the thread himself. I'm 99% certain he doesn't need shooting down, just give him a chance :TU:

And fair play to those that do post! I maintain a good distance from their rectums, but if they fight someone who doesn’t post here and who I’m not especially a fan of, Ill support the boxrec poster. If they win well, they should be told as they would be off the forum. If they lose or don’t perform to their best, there should be a debate and some honesty - which generally there is. The other thing is, you tend to learn more about someone who posts on the same forum as you so you might find out something that makes you genuinely like a fighter you might have otherwise not been interested in. I think Larry's enthusiasm would have drawn some posters to him. I call it supporting rather than crawling. I think its ok to praise or criticise if you can support your argument. Its the stuff like slagging off someone for celebrating a win they have worked hard for that get's me.

For every so called crawler, there is a devils advocate doing exactly the opposite. On and off the forums.

Well if he fights someone who is not bothered by his punches... in effect his power, in terms of how he uses it to control and influence a fight, is removed... I'm sure we've all seen, and you might have been in, fights where one boxer has not got the power to make the other guy respectful, and so cannot hold the initiative.

Agree 100%. A Boxrec Boxer is great thing.

Billy is right, some do crawl up bottoms, but I believe in WARMACHINE. Kenna is 'live' but I think Warmachine will do it.

Someone is generally 'not bothered by someone's punches' when that someone can't hit hard!
Larry has proved he can and he doesn't seem to be the stereotypical muscle-bound non puncher(no offence on the physique Larry!)

There won't be many heavyweights that can take shots from a heavy handed heavyweight for 12 rounds in general.

And I was asking a question more on the lines of what tactics would you use to negate a big puncher's power? Other than 'not get hit completely' and 'take them all being too tough' :TU:

And when a boxer displays a distasteful side, they'll cop flak, too. See the reaction to Donnell Holmes on the Current Scene.

Good luck Larry, this should be a good fight. Colin knows his stuff and i can see him trying to get you to the later rounds , to test stamina etc.

I remember being ringside when Colin won the Southern Area title, 2nd round KO of big Wayne Llewellyn.
Probably Colin's best win.
