Who exactly are the moderators of the British/Irish forums, i personally have no idea.

This lacollier883 is surely having a laugh, serious doubts have to be raised about this guys credentials as a mod, he's surely just a wind up merchant. But it just goes to show, its anybody's guess as to who's moderating this place!
Listen, I ain't having a laugh, I am warning you for the last time before I take serious action.

The moderation of the board is a joke alright.

It's a matter of time before a regular poster gets pissed off with a mod and sets up a competing forum which will take away all the good posters, including myself.

I'm sure I'll be banned now by an idiot mod.

What a fcuking joke, what moron had the brains to do that then?

Guzman coming in 9lbs over weight is breaking news, its headline stuff, and clearly deserves a thread all of its own. It could only have been up for a short period of time and was already close to a page long, surely thats proof enough of its worth!!! Attatching it to some 'Guzman, open workout' thread that was started one month ago and is now 4 pages long is just outright stupid. We'd be aswell as canning it altogether.

Who are the moderators of this forum, can we order an IQ test please!
8. USE THE SEARCH FEATURE BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD
It's not hard.

Why do the mods have to patronize the posters? Why can't they just give a genuine answer?

Great, a personal insult. Keep swearing too... if you kiss the mods ass they will like you.

Ok, give me an example of what you would have typed into the search box and what you would have found that would not have warranted starting the thread 'Guzman 9lbs overweight!!!'

Lets hear it!

It's nonsense buddy, they seem to be arguing that there should only be one thread for each boxer.

A fair few Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye & Khan threads should be disappearing soon then.

I see the MOD responsible for the crime has rubbed his two brain cells together and come up with the idea of renaming the month old 'Guzman work out thread'. Fat lot of good that does!

A simple apology and a reinstatement of the said thread is whats required here!

The ruling was correct by the moderator in question and stands.

I also fail to see the purpose of this thread as a constructive discussion, or relevant as the thread wasn't deleted, and is currently being used to attack posters and/or the running of forum.

Unless this changes, I will lock the thread.

Please abide by the rules of the forum.
Mod/Admin decisions in regards to threads being locked, merged, or individuals being banned and mods being demoted should not be discussed on any forum (instead send the decision-maker, or The Law if it isn't clear, a private message to query a decision).

Many thanks.

OK, if i can be bothered, later on i'll send a letter to the decision maker.... once somebody decides to tell me who he/she is of course!

I think you are seriously over reacting if you think this thread is being used to attack other posters. It is also not being used to 'attack' the running of the forum, merely question why a relevent thread was merged into another thread of an entirely different subject.

I may have gotten slightly carried away, but only out of frustration for what is, in my view, a serious cock-up. I'm a 7 year memeber of this forum and visit daily, i can assure you i've never gave any moderator any reason to caution me over that time, that should tell you something. I dont need you to flash an iron fist at me quoting the rules and such like, a simple explination would be suffice. "The ruling was correct by the moderator in question and stands." Thats no explination at all and is only aids to fuel the fire.

I presume LaCollier is not a mod then?
Personally I am suprised the Guzman overweight thread was merged.
I appreciate their are legal issues in terms of libel at stake, but as a rule of thumb I much preferred the old Laissez-Faire approach to moderating

The topic being merged had nothing to do with libel. It was simply a moderator doing what they thought was tidying the forum. I disagree with the merging as I think Guzman being overweight deserves its own topic, but it's not a big deal to me. The fact that ALI had created a 3rd topic on the subject probably prompted the merging.

'Light touch' moderation with minimal thread merging is my preference too.

The most obvious reasons for merging threads, I would say, are duplications of RBR threads or several threads discussing the same fight result or previewing the same match.

The Guzman weight debacle deserved high lighting in it's own right IMO.

Fair play to you for pointing out that you disagree with the Guzman overweight thread being merged.

The thread i started was titled something along the lines of 'Lee Beard - good job in getting Guzman in shape' or something of that ilk anyway. Perhaps, in hindsight, i could have just posted that in the Guzman overweight thread, but i wanted to specifically address Lee Beards part in all of this. He's an up and comming British trainer that has had a lot of press over the last year or so. Again though, i dont think i'd have been anywhere near as annoyed had my thread been merged with the AGuzman overweight thread as i was when both threads were merged with the Guzman open sparring thread. That was not a great call.

This is not a one off thing, the merging of threads on the British forum has been a problem for some time now and needs addressing. I have sent a PM to Poncey explaining my reasoning on this of which i hope he will raise with the other moderators and at least open it up for discussion. As we can see above, some members are posting that they would rather the forum pretty much be left alone. The moderators merging policies needs reviewing IMO!

You've done the right thing in sending a PM to Poncey. If there's anything anyone doesn't like about the moderating all they have to do is PM one of us. We work together in the moderator forum to try to create consistency.
