It's dead-even as I write this. Nothing much is getting settled, that's for sure

Both men beat enough quality to prove they are among the best history has to offer us. Ability wise, it’s just opinion and personal taste. I think Charles gets the nod but I agree with Saad that there’s very little in it. No wrong answer.

Outside of Duran's win over Leonard., I would take Charles 3 wins over Bivins (Actually 4, but Bivins washed up the last time), 2 wins over Burley, 3 wins over Moore, and 2 wins over Walcott against any of Durans other wins.
Yes Duran beat Buchanan,DeJesus,Palomino, Cuevas. However they just don't measure up. They probably aren't even as good as Charles two wins over Maxim and Marshall and one against Yarosz.
In other words, Charles 10 biggest wins are better than any of Duran's other wins. That is awful lot to overcome and there isn't enough other evidence to counter this.
Charles had the better career.

Charles beat better fighters, but Duran had a better career. More longevity and more world titles.
At 37 years old both were through, but Duran won amazingly a world title in a weight class that was not even his.
