He was never an especially big hitter.

I see Hagler as heavy handed...

Hearns I believe could crack at this weight. Ratios only mean something if everyone fought the same opposition. Also, as this is punching power I think it's okay to take into consideration the dismantling of Andries and performances at higher weights.

I think Duran had very little power by the time he got to 160.

There are some really ill considered ratings by others which is a shame as I thought this is a good thread topic. Anyway here is my considered list is below.


Antuofermo - 5.75 (mauling brawling shots)

Minter - 7.0 (underrated he staggered hagler momentarily with his left stopped sugar ray seales)

Hagler - 8.00 (slightly underrated power wasnt the kind of guy to look 4 one shot)

Duran - 7.00 (unusual for the thread starter to give him a 4. At MW he had respectable power. He decked Iran Barkley,kept Hagler at bay, slashed SRL's eye brutally open with one right hander)

Hearns - 9.25 (at MW the first signs were emerging that he wasnt a 10 puncher at higher weights as he had been at 147 . that said an incredible ensemble nontheless.Time shows he is a 9.25 out of 10 at MW he could do it all as a puncher, control his power ala mccallum or one punch the guy had many tools body shots and right hand)

Roldan - 6.50 (overrated imo he didnt really floor hagler and people confuse his physique and toughness with punch power who did he really kayo of significance apart from kinchen)

Mugabi - 8.25 (bit overrated imo competition he beat limited opposition but very hard puncher)

McCallum - 8.25 (controlled and brutal power when he wasnt boxing which he usually preferred to do, busted people up patiently at 160 but a few pounds below at 154 took out the great don curry with one shot, and with Julian Jackson only took a few shots to do it)

Benn - 8.50 (in this day/age his 160lb persona would be considered murderous but its shocking that for all his ferocity and power on his hands, he was in an age when there were PURE one punch kayo artists better than him in Jackson and Mclellan!!! Threw around chin tough guys like barkley, dewitt like rag dolls he frequently loaded up on shots.)

Eubank - 7.00 (he could bang a little in his 160 prime but his shots were wild slogs)

Jackson - 10 (pure velocity kayoed iron chined Herol Graham, Terry norris with one shot)

McClellan - 9.00 (power caused inertia! he kayoed many a man cold b4 they hit the deck but comp no where near as good as hearns neither the tools plus some of his best kayoes were lower level operators but based on his potential to kayo even top level guys apart from jackson i still rate him as a 9 cos you cant rule out raw potential)

Kalambay - 6.75 ( had decent power as a top class european operator but a smooth boxer who didnt plant his feet too much)

Nunn - 7.25 (in his prime belied his prior rep and showed power for a few sparing years)

Hopkins - 8.0 ( similar to hagler and mccallum in the way he used his power) sharp hitter who didnt go looking for one shot in his championship days.

Toney - 8.0 ( could do it all but didnt put his all in a single punch until the night he one punched michael nunn!another one who controlled his power well and had many tools to administer power)

Taylor - 6.75 (nuff said if he had real power he should have put Pavlik and Froch and joppy away but much of his power came from his sharp handspeed)

Pavlik - 8.00 (has power in this era)
